Tell me about your holiday weekend.   Try to use your vocabulary from the previous sections.  Note that most of your sentences will use the simple past tense.  Write 8 - 12 sentences.  You should be able to make at least 2 paragraphs, so try to answer questions that are related in some way.

Teacher will ask the class questions after each student presents to test listening and comprehension skills.

• What holiday did you recently celebrate?

• Do other nations celebrate this holiday?

• Do other nations have a similar holiday?

• Describe the holiday.  Why is this day important?
• Is it a national holiday, a religious holiday, or both?
  

• How do you celebrate the holiday?

• Is there a special event that you go to, like a parade or fireworks show?
• Do you give gifts or treats to others?
• Do you pull pranks (jokes) on people?

• Who do you spend the holiday with?

• Do you spend time with friends, family, or both?
• What do you do with these people?  
• Tell me about a couple of the people that you spent your holiday with.  (Use personal characteristics.)
• Did one of those people do anything that you will remember?  (Did they do something funny or show some kind of talent?)
• Is there anything special that children do on this holiday?

• Why do we have special activities for children?  (Think of a personal characteristic.)

• Is there a special food that you eat on this holiday?  

• If not, did you eat something that was extremely delicious?
• Did you eat at home, someone else’s house, or at a restaurant?
