Weekly Shift Updates - 2020 March

Week of March 8-14, 2020

Handwashing

Everyone has been told to wash your hands for 20 seconds, but what exactly are you supposed to do for those 20 seconds? It’s important, not just to run soap around your hands randomly, but to try to get all the surfaces of your hands. Here’s a good video showing what you are supposed to do while washing your hands. Have everyone on your shift watch this.

Medication Administration

At last week’s volunteer leadership meeting, training was provided on Medication Administration. Use the following link to provide on-shift training. The presentation is still fairly  long, so you may be selective about which sections you train on depending on the skill level of the person you are training.

Medication Administration - slightly shorter version

Please be particularly mindful of the section on the Rights of Medication Administration. Every patient deserves to have the correct medication at the correct time.
