  1. Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs
  1. Faculty Senate:
  1. Now have an updated list of FS committees that need students. Will be sharing this out with the team. Kenny is also taking point on this effort if anyone has any questions.
  2. Recent FS legislation
  1. Academic Calendar Committee
  1. Will be approved before end of October
  2. Trying to vouch for Veterans Day and Election Day to be recognized. We had an interest in a resolution written by Will
  1.  If Veterans day was recognized as a holiday it would have to come from somewhere else in the calendar year
  2. Will may not do a resolution due to it having to come from somewhere else
  1. Working with Kat Davis on sustainability council
  2. Graf will send what he talks about with Kat to Chey
  1. Associate Vice President of Student Organizational Affairs
  1. Funding Board
  1. Six direct grants were scheduled for last week
  2. Four more scheduled for this week
  1. Homecoming Decorating Party 10/01/21
  1. Went very well and the parade with the decorated golf carts was a success
  1. Kayla, Eric and a funding board member will do a club of the month
  1. Kenny asks if for club of the month they want to use a submitted picture for the website
  1. Eric is not clear on how that will be set up there is a meeting on Wednesday to discuss and he would like to have it posted by end of week
  1. Administrative Director
  1. Joint Meeting Attendance For Executive Members
  1. Spoke to the Ethics Officer about the policy on attendance and determined that the Ethics Officer, the Administrative Director, the Vice President, and the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs need to be on attendance.
  2. From now on they will record their attendance in either the senate or assembly attendance links
  1. Government Relations Officer
  1. Sam will join Grace on the General Education Committee from now on
  1. Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence
  1. Resiliency Room
  1. On its way to a grand opening in November
  2. Finalizing the statement of purpose this week
  3. Marsha P Johnson room to help LGBTQIA+ students
  1. Meeting this Friday on where it would go or where student population is at on creating this room
  1. Is the Resiliency Room open to the public?
  1. Yes, but signage on religion related items in the room and marketing still to come
  1. Communications Officer
  1. Website rebuild will be starting Wednesday, major reformatting will be taking place.
  1. This will be a multiweek process, things may be unavailable so Erics email will be there for issues
  1. Communication has produced a bill for approval for Canva to be heard at the Joint meeting next Wednesday.
  2. I would like to do senate and assembly headshots next committee Wednesday, pendings committee and your confirmation.
  1. If the committees think that is plausible in their schedule
  2. Some students are online so it will be optional to get a free one taken or send one in, if not then it will be a picture of buster

  1. Meeting with Lauren to get senator emails and mass emails for senators set up
  2. Exploring getting a consistent signature for all ASBSU emails
  1. Ethics Officer
  1. Currently fixing typos and thematic errors in code, non-substantive, let him know if you see any errors
  1. Vice President
  1. Eric and I emceed the Student Leader Reunion last Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to network and connect with past student leaders. The event went very well. Oldest attendee graduated in 1949
  2. I worked with Amaia and got her trained. Make sure you slow down in your meetings for the first few weeks so that she can get the hang of it.
  3. Kenny and I toured the Children’s Center to examine the building repair requests that they submitted to SAFAB Reserve. Working with Marc Kyle and student affairs to find a better funding option for them
  4. Sam KILLED IT with Voter Registration!!
  5. Kenny and I met with Matthew Ewing, the Vice President of University Advancement, and Argia Beristain, the Associate Vice President of Advancement. Discussed opportunities for us to get involved in

  1. In Sarah and I’s bi-weekly meeting with Dr. Whipple, Dr. Buckwalter attended where we discussed the Children’s Center and implementation of a formal dead week policy. Dead week policy is moving forward to trying to convene a panel across campus with some faculty members as well
  2. SAFAB has two requests in the queue, one from the Children’s Center, the other from the Office of the Dean of Students. The Children's Center we don't know the best funding option SAFAB will have its hearing next Monday
  3. Sarah and I met with Matthew Ewing, the VP of Advancement to discuss how ASBSU might be more proactive in donor relations and philanthropy. Please let me know if you are interested in hosting tours as needed for select donors, and having conversations about your student experience.
  4. The question was posed by an outside party as to why is dead week still a problem?
  1. The policy that was implemented was a no exam week however the stress from projects is still there. It would be a proposed no projects/exams week
  2. Discussed adding, being able to reschedule major exams if a student has three within 24 hours up to nine credit hours, to the policy
  3. The goal is to amend  the policy to be proactive in addressing mental health problems

  1. She is a WorkU student and Kayla has interviewed her

  1. Dining Services RFP Update
  1. We have a draft of the RFP and are giving our feedback on it
  2. There are nine focus groups
  3. Do not respond to any direct contact concerning the RFP send to Nancy Schwend
  1. Sustainability Conversation
  1. Since the RFP took a majority of the meeting Kenny offers to put her first on next weeks agenda
  1. Chey would like to still present today if we have quorum and let us know she was also promised first this week not by the chair of this council
  2. Kenny explains that you must speak to the chair to get on the agenda and that the dining RFP was a conversation not only time sensitive, but one that more directly and more widely impacts students at BSU.
  1. Chey presents her ideas for Sustainability Council and her Resolution draft for an additional Executive Council member
  1. Kenny- I will send Chey an email with all of you copied summarizing the themes of our conversation and the next steps Chey should take for this initiative.
