This Week We…

Math: We worked on strategies to add and subtract numbers up to three digits.  Ask your third grader to show you their favorite method!

ELA:
 In Fundations, we completed Unit 4 and took the Unit Test.  In Unit 4, we learned spelling rules for adding suffixes to the Silent e syllable.

In Wit and Wisdom, students we will asked and answered questions about a new information text, Giant Squid: Searching for a Sea Monster, used key details to identify the main idea, examined linking words and phrases in an explanatory paragraph, and distinguished shades of meaning among related words that described different degrees of large.

Science/ Social Studies: used grid maps and played geography games.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): learned about El Dia de los Muertos.

Next Week We Will…

Math: We will finish Module 2 before Winter Break which includes adding and subtracting up to three digits and rounding numbers to the nearest tens and hundreds.

In Fundations, we will review concepts learned in Unit 4.

In Wit and Wisdom, we will identify the main idea and key details in a passage, identify and use text features to locate information , use context clues to determine the meaning of words, and determine the essential meaning.

Science/ Social Studies: learn our own address.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): This week we will learn about the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving address and listen to it read aloud in “Giving Thanks.”
