Officially, she plays the role of the Cultural Attaché at the East German Embassy in Bonn. She persuades(uses emotional blackmail) Walter Schweppenstette to recruit Martin Rauch as a spy who would be called Moritz Stamm.

Typical German leader who seems to play nice to other people but you can tell he is clearly in charge of everyone i.e. when he bosses around Moritz Stamm to get him a pack of cigarettes and a bag of charcoal.

Plays the role of an evil leader who will trick anyone in order for him to gain something.

He holds the rank of the Major General in HVA and is Lenora Rauches boss. He is encouraged by Lenora to recruit Martin Rauch as a spy and he sprains Martins hand in order for him to fit the role of Moritz Stamm.

Loyal friend to Martin who seems to be following all the rules to be the best First Lieutenant in the West German Army. He is portrayed as his father’s right hand man and almost sucks up to him.

He was forced into the military career by his father. He supports Moritz Stamm when he arrives to the base in West Germany. He doesn’t have much narrative in episode 1.

Portrays the idea that he is a martyr for the East and is doing what he needs to do in order to spread Eastern ideologies.

He works as a Law professor in the West and organises peace rallies since moving there in 1961. He acts as Martin’s mentor, teaching him how to be a spy.
