Bio
Robert Havasy is a Senior Director in HIMSS’ Health Information Systems group. In this role he focuses on issues around connected health including remote patient monitoring, telemedicine, patient engagement, shared decision-making and interoperability. Mr. Havasy serves as the staff liaison for HIMSS’ Connected and Coordinated Care Committee and the more than 5000 member Connected Health Community and advises on policy and regulatory matters related to connected health. In 2018 he also served on the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT’s US Core Data for Interoperability Task Force. Previously, Mr. Havasy served as a Vice President of the Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCH Alliance, a division of HIMSS) and as the Executive Director of PCH Alliance’s Continua initiative.
Prior to joining the PCH Alliance, Mr. Havasy was the Corporate Team Lead for Product and Technology Development at the Center for Connected Health (CCH), part of the Partners HealthCare System in Boston, Massachusetts. At CCH Mr. Havasy lead the team that integrated the Center’s technology with Partners’ enterprise clinical systems. Major achievements of the Center include connecting remote patient monitoring data to Partners’ electronic medical record (EMR) system, the integration of consumer activity monitoring data with the EMR, and a new platform for acquiring and integrating Patient Reported Outcome Measures data into clinical practice.
Prior to joining CCH, Mr. Havasy held a variety of positions over 10 years in Sales, Marketing, and Services with Enterasys Networks (now part of Extreme Networks), culminating as Service Operations Manager where he had responsibility for Maintenance and Professional Services offerings and for driving global service revenues of over $100 million annually.
Mr. Havasy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Keene State College and an M.S. in Health and Medical Informatics from Brandeis University.
When not geeking out with some new tech gadget, Rob can often be found hiking the woods and mountains of New England or at home perfecting his barbeque skills. He spends time as a volunteer for the Trustees of Reservations, where he helps maintain a 196 acre open-space preserve in Central Massachusetts and other properties around the state.. He’s also a motorcycle rider, a welder, a gardener, and amateur maple syrup maker.
