Purpose of the position To support students learning by fostering inclusion through implementing a differentiated curriculum and adapted environment as part of a teaching team.

Skills and Abilities |
Requirements include: - Highly developed skills and knowledge to efficiently implement and contribute to the review of a classroom programme to suit individual students.
- An ability to work in an independent manner to identify and resolve low level problems.
- Initiative and decision making to contribute to the development and implementation of specialist programmes.
- The ability to effectively communicate and relationship build with T.A's, teachers and parents of children.
- A knowledge of word processing and information and communication technology.
- A collaborative approach to teamwork across the whole school.

Specific Tasks and Duties |
In-class support - Assist to implement a classroom programme following the IEP goals, for individual students.
- Support class teacher(s) with classroom programme and supervision of students.
- Assist students with appropriate I.T.; Word Q, Ipad etc. Recharge devices, locate and install suitable apps.
- Prepare and maintain resources.

Specialist Programmes - Utilising T.A.’s specialised skills for specific learning e.g. Art, Ipad.
- Deliver a planned ESOL programme to suit student(s) .
- Extend students’ knowledge through Extension Group.
- Deliver a planned Social Skills programme to individuals and small groups.
- Improve students’ fine and gross motor skills by delivering a planned, varied programme.

Health and Safety - Toileting student, assisting students with toilet accidents.
- Assist with first aid.
- Supervising identified students in the playground.
- Implement and support planned behaviour modification programmes.
- Monitor and support student with specialist equipment e.g. standing frame, hearing aides.

Communication - Contribute to the development of IEP’s.
- Develop a positive rapport with students.
- Assist in identify students’ needs, record and report orally or written to teachers.
- Contribute with appropriate personnel to applications for student funding e.g. ORRS, I.T.,
- Share knowledge through collaborating with other T.A.’s and teachers to provide a cohesive learning environment.
- Attend regular T.A. meetings and P.D.
- Positively communicate with parents.

Management - Chair and record minutes of several T.A. meetings a term.
- Supply suitable resources for staff when requested.

General responsibility: To adhere to the school’s policies and procedures, with particular reference to the Health and Safety policy and the Privacy policy.
