Pedagogy and Assessment
- Whole school PSHE curriculum approach to ensure that statutory guidance met.
- Whole school values covered on a half termly basis and mapped out across the year linked to British Values -school anthem chosen in line with the value.
- Weekly Whole School Worship led by the headteacher/ SLT linked to current value and resources shared with staff via G-Suite.
- Prominent display outside the hall featuring current value - used as a working wall for pupils.
- Whole school curriculum map provided to all staff as well as resources to assist the teaching of PSHE in Year group files.
- Each Year group has a designated PSHE slot in their timetable each week.
- Floor books in place for each year group to record Golden Nuggets of knowledge and skill, revisited to embed learning.
- Coverage of Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) across the school is clear in overviews.
- Support from external agencies to enhance the curriculum e.g. Canal and River Trust trust to teach water safety, Fire Brigade - fire safety, Safety Central Visits - Safety in the home and on the streets, PCSO assemblies and PCSO support for our Junior Safety Officers.
- Mindfulness groups taken on a weekly basis from children across all age groups that have been identified by class teachers. .
- RSE policy updated Summer 2021 and includes subject specific vocabulary.
- Insight is used to track progress through objectives taught in each year group.

- myHappymind is an award winning program for schools & nurseries, families and organisations.
- It teaches preventative habits that support positive mental health, resilience and self esteem.
- All of the concepts taught are based on science and research and grounded in neuroscience and
positive psychology.
- The program is delivered via an innovative technology platform making learning easy, convenient and
fun.
- The program is delivered by class teachers across 5 modules, all designed to develop critical knowledge and habits that support children's mental health.
- All of the content is grounded in the latest science and research about what it takes to create positive mental wellbeing. The focus is on building knowledge and teaching habits, so that children develop a toolkit of resources to use when they need to.
- myHappymind is a whole school and every child matters approach, it's not just reserved for those at the point of need.
- There is a myHappymind curriculum for every year group from Early Years to Year 6. The Year 6 focus is
around transition to high school.
