Catechism based on the Prague declaration by EUREKA 1999 and the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith 2005 (15/3/22)

Who is God?

God lives eternally as three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. His love, grace and sovereignty are displayed in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgement.

Why is the Bible fully trustworthy?

Divine inspiration ensures the Bible is entirely trustworthy and a supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct and is to be trusted in what it has to say in all other areas of knowledge.

What is a human?

All people are made in the image of God with the capacity to love, to be holy and care for the creation. However all humans are sinful and are therefore subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.

Why did Christ die?

Christ’s death acted as a substitutionary sacrifice. It is the sole and all sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin.

How is a person made right with God?

The justification of the sinner is solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.

What is the work of the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit illuminates scripture, regenerates our spirit at new birth, grants us spiritual gifts, and brings about sanctification.

What is the church?

The universal church is the Body of which Christ is the Head and it is committed by His command to the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the world.

What is our future expectation?

We expect the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory who will raise all people to judgement, bringing eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost.
