Job Description: 

Broc Cellars is looking to hire a part-time Tasting Room Associate. This person would work a combination of shifts on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and assist with events. Shifts will be two days a week, and an occasional 3rd day a week as necessary. The ideal candidate would be willing to fill in as needed. If you enjoy talking about wine, learning about wine, and providing excellent customer service, you’ll enjoy this job! You’ll be expected to perform all hospitality functions in the tasting room and educate guests about the wine and winery. You will also be expected to close sales of wine, merchandise and plants to visitors in addition to signing members up for our wine club. This is a great opportunity to become an integral part of an established independent winery in the urban environment of Berkeley, California.

The position reports directly to the Tasting Room Manager and to the General Manager, Bridget Leary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

• Execute opening, service, and closing task list
• Astute knowledge of the winery and each wine that is being served and sold
• Provide excellent customer service with the objective of a positive experience for them and additional bottle/merchandise sales and club sign ups
• Process payment with proper discount (wine club, broc door specials, timely promotions)
• De-escalate any unhappy customers with a positive and resolution-driven attitude
• Execute sanitization and cleaning procedures - alert TR Manager if anything is running low
• Follow wine club pick up protocol and documentation
• Pour and discuss our wines with tasting room guests
• Exhibit an enthusiastic passion about wine and hospitality to create a memorable wine tasting experience for the guest

• Maintain Broc Door displays and shelves for presentation standards
• Other winery duties as assigned by management
• Adherence to all health and safety standards of Broc Cellars and OSHA

• Maintain a good working relationship with all employees at Broc
• Recommend any technology and best practices to maximize productivity & efficiency of operation

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

• Position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environments with wet and uneven flooring
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks in a production environment
• Occasionally lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to work safely around winery equipment and machinery
• Availability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as required
• Computer skills in Shopify, Square, Google Suite, Tock and Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn other related computer programs & databases.

*This is a part-time hourly position with additional pay through commission and tips.
