Spring Pledge Drive

Our Fundraising Drive is under way!  Let’s replenish our savings to where they were before the new chapel-build! The Las Vegas Meditation Group is sustained by your donations.  For many months, our rent and expenses have exceeded our income from donations, and our bank account is pretty low thus this pledge drive to build our savings back up! Our GOAL is $25,000.

100th Year Anniversary

2020 is the 100th Anniversary of our guru, Paramahansa Yogananda’s, arrival in the United States.  Plans are underway to celebrate this momentous occasion several ways and as part of this celebration, Mother Center is collecting written testimonials from devotees and friends in our Centers, Groups and Circles whose lives have been touched by our beloved Guru and his Kriya Yoga path.  Guidelines for making your submissions are found here (open this link in a new tab/window).  This information is also posted on the bulletin board at the temple bookroom.

Upcoming Special Events

On Sunday, May 26th, we'll be holding a Service Reader's PowerPoint Workshop after the Readings Service in the Fellowship Area.  It is open to all service readers, those in training and also those interested in learning more about becoming a service reader.

On Sunday, June 2nd, following the Reading Service, we will be having a vegetarian potluck brunch (Spring Social) in the Fellowship Area. Bring your favorite vegetarian dish. Our quarterly socials give us an opportunity to gather in a fun and social atmosphere while harvesting the blessings of spiritual fellowship.  Newcomers are welcome.  The Prayer for Food will be recited at 12:30pm.

We LOVE volunteers and have many opportunities available for you to serve. This is a great way to get to know one another and make new friends. Visit our Volunteer Opportunities page (open in a new tab) if you would like to sign up online, or we invite you to stop by our volunteer table in the front foyer on Sundays to see, in what areas, you can apply your special talents.   **We are in need of a Sunday School Teacher.  Must be a Kriyaban and available 1 Sunday per month.**

SRF Summer Day Program For Youth

We invite children and teens between the ages of 7 to 18 to the SRF Summer Day Program in Encinitas. This program ushers in an era of training for youth in our Guru’s How-to-Live spiritual principles. With guidance from SRF monastics, teens and children will have an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, learn SRF techniques of meditation, engage in fun activities and create friendships with spiritually-minded peers. The program also features a “Parents Day” at the Encinitas Temple that will include a class and satsanga given by the monastics on spiritual parenting.

The girls’ week will be June 24-28 and the boys’ week July 1-5.  A flyer describing the program may be found at the back of the chapel, or visit the SRF website at Youth Services – Summer Day Program.

For those from out-of-town, there are nearby state beach campgrounds and a list of nearby motels is available on the SRF website. We recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible because accommodations fill up quickly during the summer months.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to call our SRF Youth Services Dept. at 818-549-5160.

Scholarships are available for the Summer Day Program.

New SRF Lessons

So many of our members have been expressing their enthusiasm and joy over the new edition of the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons, which, as you probably know, Mother Center began mailing in February. For those of you who are currently receiving the previous version of the SRF Lessons, we encourage you to transition your existing Lessons subscription to the new edition of the Lessons to receive the many benefits of this greatly enhanced and expanded home-study series.

The new edition of the SRF Lessons will greatly enrich your learning experience of the Kriya Yoga teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. Following are just some of the benefits:

* A wealth of previously unpublished material from Paramahansaji’s writings and talks.

* Access to each Lesson digitally through the newly created SRF Lessons app, as well as ongoing auxiliary audio and video content.

* And the ability to become eligible to apply for Kriya Yoga sooner, because of the way in which the Lessons have been reorganized.

Of course, we encourage those of you who may have completed your study of the SRF Lessons – or are considering picking up where you left off – to recharge your spiritual practice by enrolling in the new edition of the Lessons. You can do so online through the SRF member portal site.

More information about the Lessons are found here.
