DISCLAIMER
If you, your family, or any player does not feel comfortable with returning to play or training, there is NO PRESSURE to attend. Families must make the best decisions possible for themselves and those they interact with daily.
- What if we don’t feel comfortable attending training this Fall or Preseason due to COVID-19? Training plans may change with mandates to stay at home or closures of clubs and training sites. The most important thing to remember: if you don’t feel comfortable, don’t attend. Please inform your coach and director.
- We are following a combination of guidelines from US Youth Soccer, US Soccer, and Alabama Public Health for a safer timeline to our VHSC soccer activities thus they may change or be adapted at any time.
- If you have a FEVER, CONGESTION, MUSCLE ACHES, FATIGUE, have a COUGH, or have BEEN IN CONTACT with anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or has tested positive…
- DO NOT GO TO TRAINING - STAY HOME! Contact VHSC officials and consult your physician.
REFUND POLICY
- If the fall season is cut short due to COVID-19 Federal, State, or League mandates, the Club will be offering the option of partial refunds based on the number of weeks completed. Otherwise, there are no refunds unless moving out of State or season ending injury.
COVID-19 POI: Please contact Mike Getman with any COVID-19 questions or concerns at mikegetmanVHSC@gmail.com.
PHASE 2 - JULY 16 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
- Facial coverings for individuals. Effective July 16, 2020 at 5:00 PM:, each person shall wear a mask or other facial covering that covers his or her nostrils and mouth at all times when within six feet of a person from another household in any of the following places: an indoor space open to the general public, a vehicle operated by a transportation service, or an outdoor public space where ten or more people are gathered.
- Communicable Disease Waiver is REQUIRED and must be signed by all participants in any Vestavia Hills Soccer Club program effective immediately.
- Any VHSC player or family member that tests positive for COVID-19 must notify VHSC officials and report the situation immediately. The player or family member must isolate and is NOT ALLOWED to attend any VHSC event for 10 days from the day of symptom onset. The isolation may extend past 10 days until symptoms completely resolve without the use of medications (ie. no fever without the use of anti-fever medications)
- Any VHSC player or family member that has been in contact with a person under investigation (PUI) of COVID-19 or a person confirmed with COVID-19 may be quarantined for 14 days, is not allowed to attend VHSC events, and is obligated to contact VHSC officials immediately to report the type of contact and timeline. (Add link to reporting form here?) Return to play will be assessed on an individual case basis.
- Parents/guardians of players are to check player symptoms DAILY and PRIOR to any session. If a player exhibits a cough, muscle aches, fatigue, or temperature greater than 100 degrees F, the player will be withheld from activity until symptom resolve.

- Masks are required for anyone that is not directly involved with athletic activity – coaches, injured players, etc.
- Anyone not directly involved in the training session will not be allowed in the complex (near training).
- We are limiting who is admitted to the soccer fields and complexes to reduce exposure for all.
- When dropping off/picking up players, parents will stay in the parking lot area and practice safe distancing practices if they exit their car.
- Players may participate in full-contact games.
- When off the field & during breaks players will need follow to safe distancing practices.
- Players will need to wear masks in indoor facilities (ie. Restroom).
- Players should bring their own ball.

- Participants and attendees should use their own water bottle, towel, and personal hygiene products.

- No shared water, drinks, or snacks – each player properly labels drinks and return to backpack
- All players and attendees are responsible for disposing of their own trash, including disposable water bottles, gloves and masks, in the appropriate trash bins. Players/attendees who do not dispose of their trash (gloves, water bottles, masks, etc.) may be asked NOT to return.
- FOR GAMES
- Tents and benches are not allowed on the sideline in the designated Technical or Team Areas. Players are encouraged to bring their own personal chairs and umbrellas instead.
- Bleachers will not be used at all parks.
- Parents and spectators should be socially distanced between households on the sideline.
- Spectator space on the sideline will be limited due to social distancing guidelines. It is recommended to limit the number to 1-2 supporters per player.
- Please be cognizant of those around you so as to maintain social distancing at all times.
- VHSC is adopting ASA’s recommended field layout to further limit interactions and exposure between competing teams. The enhanced field layout supports the following:
- Teams being placed on opposite sides of each field.
- Parents and spectators being on the same sideline as their team.
- Designating a Technical Area marked on the centerline of each sideline.
- Team, parent, and spectator designated areas that are 15-feet from the sideline and 12-feet from the Technical Area.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are you keeping players in their own training groups so can’t attend multiple sessions or train with another group?
- Based on current information about COVID-19, the previous policy not allowing cross-training has been updated. Players may now attend sessions with another team with permission from the Coach and VHSC Director.
What if someone is suspected or tests positive for COVID-19? (Updated October 13, 2020 @ 10:03 AM)
- All players and families should adhere to CDC and State and Local guidelines including and not limited to daily fever checks.
- If any player or family member in their household does not feel well or exhibits signs/symptoms of COVID-19, do not attend training or games and consult a Health Care Provider..
- Link to report information is found here: www.vestaviasoccer.com/covid-19 Return to play will be assessed on an individual case basis.
- Note that recommendations for discontinuing isolation in persons known to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 could, in some circumstances, appear to conflict with recommendations on when to discontinue quarantine for persons known to have been exposed to SARS-CoV-2. CDC recommends 14 days of quarantine after exposure based on the time it takes to develop illness if infected. Thus, it is possible that a person known to be infected could leave isolation earlier than a person who is quarantined because of the possibility they are infected. (Reference: CDC Other Considerations)
Do you have an internal action plan for the club? Is the entire team quarantined or just the player/family? (Updated October 13, 2020 @ 2:20 PM)
- When a player tests positive and the club is notified, the policies described above will be implemented. If the player has attended a team event while possibly infectious, the team and coach will be given a survey to assess individual contact and risk of transmission and possible need to quarantine the team or individual players. The goal is to prevent the quarantine of entire teams while maintaining a safe environment.
How to contact players included in training sessions?
- Players are contacted via the BYGA app, email, and cell phone.
Do you require a doctor consent to return to play?
Are restrooms closed or just closed to everyone besides players/coaches?
- Please see the Restroom Use policy below.
What do I bring to training? Are coaches using training bibs for players?
- Players are to wear their training jerseys to training. Some coaches may issue players their own training bibs to use all season and bring to training sessions. Other coaches may instruct players to bring both their black and white game jerseys to change into during training. Please reference your coach for specific team instructions regarding training bibs for training. Overall, players will be issued training bibs of their own or instructed to bring game jerseys to training sessions.
RESTROOM USE
The Club uses City provided soccer facilities and fields to conduct our soccer sessions/activities.
