1. Weight Training Course Description:
Class works in a program designed around athletic enhancement. Works on running, jumping, change of direction and strength training.
2. Additional Expenses: Uniforms
- Uniforms: In an effort to provide student safety, encourage good personal hygiene and limit distractions in the learning environment, students are REQUIRED to dress in appropriate clothing. This will include athletic shoes appropriate for activity, athletic socks, red shorts or gray sweats and a gray T-shirt. Street clothes will not be worn under uniforms.
- Students may purchase a gray t-shirt for $8, gray sweats for $20, and red shorts with a 7" inseam for $12. Only last names will be printed on the uniforms with a permanent marker. No other markings or names will be allowed on the uniform.
- Physical education clothing should not be altered in any way such as cut off shirts, rolled down shorts or sweats.
- Students will be able to borrow rental uniforms in the event that they are unable to wear their own. They will be given up to five (5) times to borrow rentals without any penalty to their grade. Borrowing rentals more than five (5) times in a semester will impact their grade two (2) points every time they need rentals.

4. Assessment Strategies: The students will be assessed in the following ways:
- Daily Participation and Punctuality,
- 5 participation points can be earned daily.
- Improvement in the four areas of “Healthy Fitness Zones” as outlined by FitnessGram will be assessed at the end of each Semester during the post testing assessment period.
- 5 points can be earned for improvement.
- 5 additional points can be earned for meeting standard.
5. Grading:

6. Classroom Policies and Rules: Students are expected to exhibit a proper work ethic and responsibility in the classroom. Disciplinary actions will be taken if students violate policies as stated in the student's handbook and/or the following physical education policies & rules. This may include loss of points, loss of privileges, administration intervention, and/or loss of credit for the course.
- Students are expected to dress down daily. No food or beverages (other than water) will be allowed in the gym facility. This includes gum.
- Students will remain in the locker room until the teacher dismisses them. If students leave early the attendance office will be notified.
- If a student is unable to fully participate in the day's activities, they must present a written note from a doctor. The student MAY still be expected to dress down & participate in some capacity for class.
- If an illness/injury lasts longer than 3 days, a doctor's note is required. The student must bring a release from a doctor to give the student permission to return to activity after an injury/illness.
- Students will have the opportunity to make-up excused absences.
7. Cell Phones in the Classroom:
- NO CELL PHONES TO BE USED IN PE CLASS!
- Cell phones should remain locked in your locker during class time.
- NO pictures or selfies in the locker rooms.
- Cell phone use in class will result in a loss of points.
8. Blue Passes: If students are arriving late from another class or are leaving early, a blue pass is required.
9. Assignments and Attendance:
- Students are required to attend class regularly.
- Students are expected to be in class on time. All tardies after the bell require a pass.
- The locker room will be locked once students are dismissed. If a student is tardy to class, loaners will be required and the student will change in the upstairs bathrooms after checking in with the attendance office (to get a tardy pass). Loaners are to be returned at the end of the class period.
- If a student does not bring their uniform for class, loaners will be required. Students are to return loaners immediately following class.
- If a student refuses to dress down, they will lose their daily points & be referred to administration.
- In order to encourage good personal hygiene, students will wash uniforms weekly and if possible, on a daily basis.
- Students are to remain in the locker room area until dismissed by the final bell. If students leave early they will lose their daily points & the attendance office will be notified.
- Students will have the opportunity to make-up missed class time and excused absences by submitting a recorded workout in Google Classroom (or email) to their teacher.
- EHS Sports practices/games do not count for PE Make-ups.
- Good attitude, effort and citizenship must be displayed in order to receive the make-up credit.
10. Other Items Related to the Class:
- Students are responsible to keep physical education and street clothes locked up in their own ASSIGNED lockers. DO NOT SHARE LOCKERS!!
- Students are responsible to keep cell phones LOCKED in their lockers during class time.
- Instructors will not open other student's lockers for any reason.
- Lockers should be kept locked at all times. The school is not responsible for lost items.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary locker room is expected at all times.
- Students should not use equipment unless directed by the instructor.
- Always be respectful of locker rooms and other physical education facilities.
- Immediately report any injury or illness that has occurred during class time.
- Students must have open cuts and abrasions covered with a bandage during class time.
