The steps outlined below may vary slightly depending on the wallet/broker you are using, but the basic procedure is similar. Before you start you will need the following:

• First, you need a wallet that contains cryptocurrency. This can be a mobile wallet, an exchange wallet, or a desktop wallet.
• You will also need the Wallet Address/Public Key/Public Address of your recipient. This is a long series of random letters and numbers. For donating to Isha, the Wallet Address/Public Key/Public Address is provided in the table at the end of this instruction. Important: Choose the right key for corresponding crypto.

1) Login to your wallet, and initiate the transfer to Isha by selecting ‘Send’.

2) If your wallet has multiple cryptocurrencies, select the one you plan to send.

For some wallets, steps 1 and 2 are reversed. Say, you will need to select the cryptocurrency first and then select Send.

3) Type in or Copy-paste the Public Address of the corresponding crypto into the recipient field in your wallet.

Important:

• Prior to sending, ensure you are entering the right recipient’s address, especially if you’re copying and pasting an address. These transactions are irreversible.
• Ensure you are transferring a given Crypto type to the same Crypto type. For example, please do not send Bitcoin to an Ethereum address (it would be lost in the crypto abyss forever!).
• Also, pay careful attention when it comes to cryptocurrencies that look alike — please do not send BTC to a BCH address or ETC to an ETH address.

4) Type in the amount you wish to send. You will usually be given the option to denominate this value in either a cryptocurrency or flat (dollar) amount. Choose to send Crypto to ensure its an asset transfer (instead of cash) and to make use of possible tax gains in appreciation*. 

Important:

• IF you chose Cash/Flat Dollar Amount, the crypos will be liquidated at your end and cash gets transferred to Isha and hence you may lose tax advantages.*
• There’s a big difference between $3.50 USD and 3.5 bitcoin. Be aware of this distinction and enter the right designated amount.

5) Simply click or swipe Send — and your transaction is on its way. You’ve now successfully sent cryptocurrency.

Important:

• If this is the first time you are sending cryptos, you may choose to send a small test transaction of trivial monetary value and check if Isha has received the same (by emailing donate@ishausa.org ). This could avoid making a mistake with a large amount of cryptocurrency.
• Also, be sure that the cryptocurrency you’re sending is going to the proper corresponding address.

6) Kindly send the transaction ID to donate@ishausa.org as a reference with the subject “Crypto Tax Letter” to get a tax donation letter. You may also use the above email for any other questions or if you need additional help.
