ELA:

In Fundations, students will learn open-syllable exceptions in unstressed or unaccented syllables.  This schwa occurs with an a at the beginning or end of a word, and with i in the middle syllable.

Fundations Unit 6 Family Letter and support resources can be found here (Spanish).

Students will practice test taking strategies and take their second NC ELA Check-In.  The purpose of the NC Check-In is another piece of data we will collect to help us examine and make a reliable estimate of your student’s current performance on select standards.

In Wit and Wisdom, we will also discuss the essential meaning of Starry Messenger.

Module 2 Family Letter can be found here (Spanish).

Science/ Social Studies: learn about the components and function of human skin.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): learn about Duke Ellington, a forerunner in the evolution of jazz, by reading “Duke Ellington” by Andrea Davis Pinkney and listening to some of his “Black, Brown, and Beige” piece.
