One thing I have always dreamt of ever since my secondary school days was doing my bachelor’s degree in Covenant University.Of course, my father didn’t actually take me seriously at first but, as I progressed to SS2 and he saw my determination, he tried to talk me out of it until one faithful day he called me and said “why exactly do you want that school so much” and then I said:” The school is different. I have had the opportunity of seeing a few of its products and I have seen how much their lives have been transformed. I want that for myself too.”
Resumption day came so quickly and I thought to myself while we drove through Canaaland, “It’s happening’. I got to my hall of residence and my head spun because everything was happening so fast.
After checking in, registering my devices, registering my biometrics. I went to my room and then I broke down in tears. I realized that I was going to miss home. For the first three days I had no roommates which made it more lonely for me. I felt so sad, but I couldn’t reach out to my parents for fear of being told “I told you so”. I cried my eyes out every day until my first roommate came then, after some days, my second roommate arrived.
Orientation kick-started on Tuesday, the 2nd of October and It was really informative. One session I always looked forward to was the one facilitated by the Dean of Student Affairs, Mrs Shola Coker. This was because I enjoyed listening to her and because she had a way of making us stay awake.
The week came to an abrupt end and lectures began on Monday. During the first class, I felt so sleepy which doesn’t usually happen to me. I couldn’t assimilate what was being taught and made me sad again.
I decided to go to the library to study some more but, when I got there I got distracted because of how beautiful it looked. I had never been to such an advanced library before.
After sight-seeing, I made up my mind to use every resource and opportunity Covenant University has to offer to develop myself and make an impact on my world.
It is a new phase of my life, and there is so much to learn, but, I am pumped and eager to take in all that life that Covenant University has to offer.
