Current Version: 4.2
This item allows you to package items in preparation for auctions you may wish to attend.
CAUTION: DO NOT use the script called “box root” that comes in the VMD delivery boxes. That is not the Auction Crate script and using the “box root” script in your own items will delete your items.
Step 1: Rez the Auction Crate. Red hover text displays with the current version number and item count (item count should be 0 for a new auction crate.
Step 2: Click the crate to get the popup menu and select Fix Name to name the Auction Crate.
Step 3: Load items into the Auction Crate. You can CTRL+Drag or move items directly into the contents tab while editing. NOTE: Boxed up items count as a single item. If you put 10 Milk Crates in a box (using the Sorter’s Boxup function for example) and then put that box of milk into the Auction Crate, it will count as one item. Therefore, name boxed-up items appropriately before putting them in the Auction Crate. In our example, you could name this “Box of Milk x10” or “Box of 10 Milk Crates” etc.
Step 4: Click the Auction Crate to get the popup menu and select List. This turns the hover text yellow and generates a list of items inside the Auction Crate and displays this information in your local chat. You can copy and paste this information to the Auction Panel Notecard used by many auction houses.
NOTE: Adding items after the list has been generated will update the item count and turn the hover text back to red, indicating you need to generate a new list.
NOTE: If you manually remove items from the Auction Crate after you have generated the list, the count will NOT update and the hover text will NOT change back to red because Second Life doesn’t generate messages to scripts when items are removed in this fashion. Therefore, be sure to always generate a new list if you remove items.
You can take the copy script inside the Auction Crate and use it in your own creations if you wish. Just be sure you do NOT use the “box root” script that comes in all the VMD delivery cubes. Also, to put the script into your own prim, DO NOT use CTRL+DRAG because the script will not start. Instead, edit your prim and go to the Content tab and move the script into your prim that way.
That’s all there is to it. Enjoy!
Me = Delivers contents of the crate to you and deletes the crate when it’s empty.
Other = Opens a dialogue box to enter the UUID of an object to send the contents to and deletes the Auction Crate when it’s empty.
UUID = Sends the UUID of the Auction Crate to local chat so you can easily send items from other DFS equipment to this Auction Crate.
Done = Closes the popup menu.
