Educational Rights (Ed Rights) Field Guidance for School Sites

Parents/guardians are able to activate their ParentVUE account by using an activation key generated in Synergy. Activation keys are only generated if a parent/guardian has Ed Rights. This document will show you how to check for Ed Rights and how to disable an account if a parent/guardian should not have access to their student’s information.

How to see if a parent/guardian has Ed Rights:

  1. Navigate to the Student’s record.
  2. Click the Parent/Guardian tab.
  3. See the Ed Rights column.

The enrolling Parent/Guardian is set to have Ed Rights for their students.

Editing Ed Rights:

Site administrators are able to check or uncheck the Ed Rights based on current information. If the parent/guardian has rights to access their student’s information, you may check the Ed Rights box if it is unchecked. Similarly, you may revoke a parent/guardian’s Ed Rights by unchecking this box.

Adding additional Parent/Guardians:  

If a parent/guardian is not listed here, you may contact the Educational Placement Center to have a parent or guardian added to a student’s record.

Disabling a Family Portal Account:

If a parent/guardian should not have access to ParentVUE, you may also disable their account.

  1. Navigate to the Parent screen.
  2. Click the ParentVUE tab.
  3. Click the box ParentVUE Account Disabled to disable a ParentVUE account.
