Vizualization - Cultural Heritage Documentation
The CSISR at the University of Haifa is involved with documentation of cultural heritage from its inauguration. The first motivation was to build 3D tools to assist lecturers and students at our institute. Mainly it concerned courses related to processing air-photographs, satellite images and non-spectral spatial acquisition systems. This also led us to join efforts, made by ISPRS (International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) Commission on education, for dissemination of information and distant learning. Presented here will be some products of our long term work both as individuals and jointly at the Center. Among these: samples of a book on a "Pilgrimage" to the Holy land, based on Red/Cyan anaglyphs; some 3D posters of the "Holy Triangle" near the Sea of Galilee; 3D models made with a Terrestrial LiDAR, and the benefit of UAVs as a platform for visual data acquisition. These include a 3D LiDAR model of the "Ma'Agan Michael Boat" kept at the Hecht Museum. Also will be presented, some CH documentation efforts made in other parts of the world, as were reported by CIPA.
