Beef: It’s What’s For Dinner?
By: Andrea Millard
This July 4th people thought about cooking something different. Beyond Meat, the plant-based “meat” company started in 2009, now offers three kinds of meat substitute options for grocery stores and restaurants nationwide. Their three options include Beyond Burgers, Beyond Beef, and Beyond Sausage.
The Beyond Burgers are pre-formed patties which mimic the taste and texture of beef, Beyond Beef mimics the taste of ground beef, and Beyond Sausage mimics the taste of pork sausage.
Beyond Meat’s mission is for consumers to enjoy the same taste of meat you love while also “enjoying the nutritional and environmental benefits” of eating plant-based meats as stated by Ethan Brown, Beyond Meat Founder and CEO. Why sacrifice what you love? With 20 grams of protein in a 4 oz serving, Beyond Meat has provided a meat alternative that can still provide a proper protein-fueled day. Other health bonuses include 25 percent less saturated fat than traditional ground beef; 6g per serving, products are Non-GMO, products contain no soy or gluten, and products are OK Kosher Certified.
Plus, our plant-based meat tastes good. But don’t take our word for it, just ask these real folks on Twitter who decided to try Beyond Meat for their Fourth of July holiday:
