Ask me about…
- Constitution Day: We discussed America’s Values and 3rd Grade Values. Students completed a Constitution Booklet and everyone signed our Classroom Constitution.
- Math Workshop! We took our first Module Test today. Students did a great job relating arrays to repeated addition sentences. Next week we start talking about multiplication and division! The students are excited!
- Books we read. (The Day You Begin, Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies, Watercress, Wish Tree)
- More work on Nouns. This week we worked on making nouns plural by adding -s, -es, or changing the -y to -ies and an -f/-fe to -ves. Students learned how these rules apply to different nouns.
- On Friday we had our Kindness Assembly. Mrs. Franco shared the expectations for Kindness at school. She shared the book: The Invisible Boy
- We started our first unit in Science! We will be learning about invisible forces. We began our “Anchor Phenomenon” by looking at an ice board. It is a skateboard built for ice!
- We did an experiment in Science where we explored the forces of push and pull. We had a fun hands-on experience with making a “Hopper-Popper” and seeing how the push and pull forces created a fun experiment.
- In writing, we continued to build our community of writers and discussed finding new ideas for writing. We can pull from our memories and experiences.
- Our phonics lesson this week focused on the long a sound.
Next week…
- Monday: Day 1: PE - Wear sneakers! The first Test Folder will come home. Review the assessments, sign the cover sheet and return everything in the Test Folder.
- Tuesday: Day 2: Art
- Wednesday: Day 3: Library: Books are due
- Thursday: Day 4: Music
- Friday: Day 5: PE - Wear sneakers!
Headphones/Earbuds
There will be times when headphones or earbuds (preferably attached to a wire) will be utilized so students can listen to their laptops without distracting others. If you did not send headphones or earbuds in it would be appreciated if you can. If you can't, don't hesitate to reach out to me as I may be able to find some headphones. I’d encourage you to seek a style from a 5 Below or Big Lots. Don’t break the bank!
Thank you!
