Updates and Reminders for the week ending 2.16.24 | |
This Week We… Math: This week students related the square to a 3D cube, and created new shapes from composite shapes. ELA: Students read two different versions of the tall tale John Henry, then used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the similarities and differences in the story. Phonics:  We started a new unit in Fundations, working on two r-controlled vowels: /er/ /ir/ and /ur/. Science/ Social Studies: We finished our unit on government and the 3 branches. Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Students reviewed the DIVE matrix and the expectations for our classroom.  (See below for links that provide more details!) | Next Week We Will… Math:  Students will begin to use equal parts and name them as halves, thirds, and fourths.
Phonics: Â We will continue Unit 9, r-controlled vowels. Â This unit will concentrate on the /er/ sounds spelled er, ir, and ur. Science/ Social Studies: Students will begin a new unit in science on sound. |
Moments to Celebrate! It was so fun celebrating all of our friends this Valentine’s week!  Thank you so much to parents for providing treats, cards and showing students and teachers so much appreciation and love! | We Need Your Help As a reminder, please make sure to label your child’s outerwear in case it gets put into lost and found. Just wanted to remind 2nd grade families that our school policy is not to bring in sweet treats for birthdays!  Tardies will be given out at 7:57.  Please make sure your child is at school to be on time for class! |
