Winners?...

Are we the better netball players? Charlize (the captain), Sulia, Fau, Jaylee, Leitu, Angelica, Liletina and I huddled up encouraging each other to do our best. “Come on girls, we can win this game! ” Fau encouraged. “Agreed, we will try our hardest!” Charlize replied. “Stretches girls!” Maxine (our coach) announced. Angelica counted: “1, 2, 3, 4, 5,” slowly as we moved our feet, arms, and body in circular motions. We then ran around the court two times. After our stretches were done we got into positions.

I was playing attack. When the air horn went the whistle blew and it was game on!! Charlize who was playing center passed me the ball and I threw it back to Charlize. I ran inside the semi-circle and Charlize passed it back to me. I got the goal in and boom. We had got a goal already. “Keep it up girls!” Maxine shouted. It was now Fau’s turn to start. Fau passed the ball to Liletina and Liletina tried to pass the ball back to Fau but the other teams defender had intercepted the ball. “Nooo! Guys get the ball back!” I exclaimed in panic. The other teams defender still had the ball and tried to pass it to the attack but Sulia (defender) ran up to the attack just in time to catch the ball. “Yes, Sulia you got the skills gee,” Fau said as she went outside of the court. “Haha, thanks!” Sulia said with a smile. At the end of the round we had got up to two points.

The next round we got into positions and we used body language of who to pass it to. The whistle blew and I moved in front of the defender managing to get the ball. I passed the ball to Jaylee (the other attack). Jaylee took the shot and got it in. “Good one, Jaylee!” I exclaimed. After a few minutes our opponents team scored a goal and it was three to one. Although they got a shot in we didn’t get sad because we knew we still had a chance. After ten minutes we scored two goals inside the hoop and it was the end of round two.

At the end of the game we had won against Ellerslie. We felt great and we cheered for the other team. Did our handshakes and celebrated right after. I walked out of the Auckland netball place feeling like I just won the olympics. I enjoyed the last game of netball.
