August 7, 2026 - Jaguar Journal

We're excited to share our first official Weekly Jaguar Journal, and you can look forward to receiving one every Friday throughout the year, except during holiday breaks.

STUDENT SUPPLY LISTS POSTED ONLINE

The school supply list can be found HERE on our website under “Classrooms.”  If you need help with school supplies, please don’t hesitate to contact our school counselor at saundersk@davie.k12.nc.us. She is ready to support any family who may need assistance.

BACK TO SCHOOL FORMS NEEDED!

Since our Back-to-School Forms launched, 59% of our families have already completed them. Thank you to those who have taken care of this important task! Our goal is to reach 100% completion before Open House, as these forms help ensure we have the most accurate and up-to-date information for your child, including contact information, authorized pick-up lists, and other important records. You can access your Parent Portal through the Infinite Campus App or online. If you have any questions about your portal account or Back-to-School Forms, please contact our data manager, Mrs. Pittman, at betsy.pittman@davie.k12.nc.us.

STUDENT FEES FOR 2026-2027

Save time at Open House by paying your student's fees online in advance! Through your Parent Portal, you can view and pay any applicable student fees before arriving. As you review the fees available to add to your cart, please keep the following information in mind:

If your child receives free/reduced lunch, you may request assistance with the School Fee and PE Fee only by contacting our bookkeeper, Mrs. Bowling, at bowlingc@davie.k12.nc.us.

OPEN HOUSE - CLEAR BAGS REQUIRED

Our Open House is August 18th.  This is a FLOATING event, allowing you to attend at any time within the window for your child’s grade level.

6th Grade: Tuesday, August 18, 4:00-5:30 pm

7th/8th Grade: Tuesday, August 18, 6:00-8:00 pm

COMMUNITY COUNCIL/BOOSTERS - EVENTS AUGUST 9 and AUGUST 12

Our Ellis Community Council and Boosters support many aspects of our school, including teacher appreciation events, student clubs, and athletics. We invite you to attend our next meeting on Wednesday, August 12th, at 3:30 PM. Please check in at the main office, and you’ll be directed to the meeting location.  You are welcome to join us virtually - https://meet.google.com/fxa-ugzr-ocv

The Ellis Athletic Department and Booster Club will be hosting a Community Day and Fall Sports Kick-off at the outdoor fields on Sunday, August 9th from 2 p.m.- 5 p.m.  We will be cleaning the field areas for all outdoor sports, so bring weed eaters, mowers, and blowers if possible.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL/BOOSTERS - BANNER SPONSORSHIP & RENT THE ROCK

Our Community Council/Boosters raise funds for Ellis through banner sponsorships and spirit rock rentals. Banner sponsors receive advertising in our athletic areas, and sponsorships are $300 for one banner or $500 for two. To become a sponsor, please email our Community Council president at merebop@aol.com.

We also offer two spirit rocks—one at the front of the school and one near the athletic fields. Families can rent a rock for a week for $20 to celebrate birthdays, accomplishments, or special messages. Reserve your week here: Rent the Rock SignUp

8TH GRADE OUTERBANKS TRIP

Rising 8th grade Jaguars should mark their calendars for our 2027 8th Grade Outer Banks Trip. This year, students will travel April 21–23 to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for three jam‑packed days of exploration, learning, and fun. The total cost for the trip is $575, beginning with a $75 deposit followed by five equal payments of $100. We also encourage parents to consider chaperoning this unforgettable experience. More information will be shared during Open House and Back to School events.
