Dear Parent or Guardian,

This spring, your student participated in the Missouri Assessment Program End-of-Course Assessments.

Your student’s Individual Student Report (ISR) will be shared with you during parent-teacher conferences for the assessments your student participated in.

For each assessment, the ISR provides a scale score and a performance level, including a brief description of the level.

The scale score is a representation of student responses, converted into a consistent and standardized scale. Based on

the scale score, the student is assigned a performance level. Student achievement is broken down into four performance

levels:

• Advanced: The student demonstrates advanced proficiency in the knowledge and skills necessary at this course, and a thorough command of the skills and processes as specified in content expectations.
• Proficient: The student demonstrates proficiency in the knowledge and skills necessary at this course, and an adept command of the skills and processes as specified in content expectations
• Basic: The student demonstrates partial proficiency in the knowledge and skills necessary at this course, and a partial or uneven command of the skills and processes as specified in content expectations.
• Below Basic: The student does not yet demonstrate proficiency in the knowledge and skills necessary at this course, and a minimal command of the skills and processes as specified in content expectations.

The ISR also includes scale scores for the individual reporting categories of the assessment. Reporting categories are an

overarching subset of items measuring a specific type of content. Depending on the course, categories include:

• English Language Arts - Reading Literary Texts, Reading Informational Texts, and Writing
• Mathematics (Algebra I and II) - Algebra, Functions, Number/Quantity and Statistics
• Mathematics (Geometry) - Congruence/Similarity, Coordinate Geometry and Circles, Geometric Measurement and Modeling, Statistics and Probability
• Science (Biology) - From Molecules to Organisms: Structure and Process, Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy and Dynamics, Heredity: Inheritance and Variation of Traits, Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity, Earth and Human Activity
• Science (Physical Science) - Matter and Interactions, Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions, Energy, Earth and the Universe
• Social Studies (Government) - Tools of Social Science Inquiry, Historical Foundations, Structure of Government,  and Government in Action
• Social Studies (American History) - Tools of Social Science Inquiry, Re-Emerging America, Emerging America, Emerging Globally, The Great Depression and WWII, The American Stage, and Contemporary America
• Personal Finance - Financial Decision Making/Earning Income, Buying Goods and Services, Savings/Using Credit, Protecting and Insuring/Financial Investing

Additionally, ISRs for English Language Arts include a Lexile Measure, which is an estimate of the reading ability of the student. Mathematics includes a Quantile Measure, an estimate of student readiness for mathematics instruction.
