New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) has ordered all New Mexico Public Schools to close for the next three weeks beginning Monday, March 16 through April 3, 2020. This includes all schools in Farmington Municipal Schools District, including San Juan College High School and Farmington Preschool Academies. School will remain in session and run on a normal schedule Friday, March 13.

FMS Spring Break is scheduled for next week, March 16-20, and will occur as scheduled. As FMS announced this morning, all activities and sports have been postponed. Beginning Monday, March 16, there will be no practice for activities or athletics as well.

Guidance from Farmington Municipal Schools regarding online or remote classroom instruction will come early next week. Parents and staff will be notified via email, the FMS website, and the FMS Facebook page. Students in high school or middle school who use laptops on a “day-use” agreement will be allowed to take their laptops home beginning tomorrow. Guidance for laptop usage at the elementary level will be forthcoming.

FMS recognizes that this announcement comes as a surprise to many parents, students, staff members and community members. As more guidance is provided from NMPED to our district, FMS will update our families, community and staff via email, the FMS website, and the FMS Facebook page. FMS thanks the entire Farmington community for its support and cooperation in keeping our students and staff safe and healthy.
