Half Term 1

Intent

What are we building on?

I will build on Year 10 knowledge of media products (genre, representation, narrative, purpose, target audience) and practical skills in magazine production developed in Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Pearson Edexcel Level 1/2 Tech Award in Creative Media Production -  Component 2 - Learning Aims A and B:

  • A Develop and apply media pre-production processes, skills and techniques
  • B Develop and apply media production and post-production processes, skills and techniques to create a media product.

Course Specification (2022 update)

Students will plan, produce and evaluate a publishing media product (magazine) in response to the Pearson Set Assignment (PSA). PSA is released in September so work begins immediately, building on practice projects completed in Year 10.  [Note: for 2024 the Brief requires students to create a media product based on the theme of Inclusion]

All work will be set and completed on Google Classroom

Progress is recorded on an online tracker which students can access to see what work they need to complete.

Week 1

1. Introduce the brief and deadlines.

2. Initial research into the theme of the brief and ideas generation (including looking at existing magazines, moodboards etc) [Portfolio]

3. Generate name and topic for magazine

Week 2 -

1. Practice Magazine in Canva

1. Finish Practice Magazine in Canva.

What comes next?

Using knowledge of codes and conventions and target audience to create a magazine - reimagining of an existing magazine for a teenage audience.

Half Term 3

Intent

What are we building on?

Preparing for Component 3, which is an external component that builds on knowledge, understanding and skills acquired and developed in Components 1 and 2. Learners will apply their practical skills to the creation of a media product in response to a brief. Learners will submit their ideas, pre-production planning and final media product in a portfolio of evidence. A task worth 60 marks will be completed under supervised conditions. The supervised assessment period is 10 hours. HT3 is preparation and HT4 is Assessment.
