From Adam and Ashton W.: Our son, Declan Lawrence W, was born at home on Friday, February 8th weighing 9 pounds two ounces. Happy and Healthy. We are so thankful for this bundle of joy. In this time of joy, we also want to remember those that are still waiting for their miracle baby and those that have experienced pregnancy and infant loss.
Pastor Michele will be out of the office Feb. 20 through March 4, for a conference, followed by a vacation. Please direct any issues to the Caring Team (Shannon F-E., Colette H., Shauna H., Ken S.).

On Sun. Feb. 17, Randy Haluza-DeLay will share from his recent delegation to Iraqi Kurdistan with Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT). TUMC supports CPT, an international peacemaking agency of trained teams invited to offer accompaniment and support to communities facing violence and oppression. CPT walks with Kurdish villagers in the north of Iraq whose lives and livelihoods are threatened by cross-border bombing campaigns from Iran and Turkey, government corruption, and displacement from war.
The Preaching Team invites you to engage with the current series of sermons by reading the book of Acts. For Feb. 17, please read Acts 14:17 through 15:5.
TUMC Senior Women meet on Thurs. Feb. 21, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the St. Clair-O’Connor Community in the Craft Room. All senior women are welcome.
Venture Club holds a Beach Party on Sat. Feb. 23 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Dress for the beach, it doesn't matter if it's cold outside it will be Hot, Hot, Hot at the TUMC beach party. A snack will be provided. Contact Shauna or Denise for more details. (Venture Club is for children in grades 1-5).
On Sun. Feb. 24, Kyle Gingerich Hiebert of TMTC (Toronto Mennonite Theological Centre) will speak at both On the Way Café at 10:00, and at the 11:00 worship service.
Inviting your creative responses in Lent. During the Sundays in Lent (March 10 to April 14) our worship services will include an opportunity for short responses from people in the congregation: poems, art, music, symbolic objects. Each Sunday will feature a slightly different question to which you would respond. If you are interested in finding out more or offering to take part in this, please contact JD P. or Michele.

SCOC hosts the Architect Painters Art show, featuring paintings by Paul Roth and Tony Paginton, on Sun. March 10 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at SCOC (2701 St. Clair Ave. E.). All are welcome; free admission and refreshments. The poster is on the bulletin board.
INSPIRING OUT OF TOWN OPPORTUNITIES
Dr. Ysaÿe Barnwell, Conrad Grebel University College’s 2019 Rodney and Lorna Sawatsky Visiting Scholar, will lead two events:
* Fri. March 8 at 7:30 pm: The Power of Music to Create Inclusive Communities, a lecture at CGUC
* Sat. March 9 at 7:00 pm: Building a Vocal Community: The Power of Song in Community, a workshop at Knox Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. (50 Erb Street West).
Each event requires free registration online.
You're invited to an Anabaptist Learning Workshop Worship Clinic on Sat. March 23 from 9:00 - 4:00 at Vineland United Mennonite Church (3327 Menno St., Vineland). More information about this skill-building workshop for lay worship leaders, pastors, and other interested folk, plus registration, are online.
CMU offers a one-week session on Indigenous Perspectives on Salvation, Repentance, Peace, and Justice from June 10-24 at the Canadian School of Peacebuilding in Winnipeg. More information is online.
MCC is now accepting applications for SALT 2019-2020 placements. Serving and Learning Together (SALT) is a year long service experience for 18-30 year olds with one of MCC's international partners. More information is online.
