Course Description

Latin II further explores the Latin language and Roman culture.  Students read stories which follow a Roman family and their lives during the imperial era in the city of Rome.  Through these stories, students learn about many topics such as daily Roman life, travel and hospitality in the ancient world, Roman aqueducts, and the monuments of the Roman Forum.  Students will continue their study of mythology by reading myths about how the gods interact with mortals.  Students will also deepen their understanding of Roman history by studying the Punic Wars and the expansion of the Roman Republic.

Course Expectations and Assessments

Course Policies

Homework is an essential part of learning Latin.  Homework provides an opportunity for practice and prepares students for class.  Homework is not graded but is checked.  If a homework assignment takes students more than thirty minutes, they may stop there.

Students may retake assessments.  At times, there will be opportunities in class to make up or retake assessments.  Other times, students will need to schedule a time outside of class.

Required and Recommended Materials

Students can always either email me or come up to me to ask for extra help.  I can meet with students before school, during lunch, or after school.
