Remote Accountant
An Indianapolis-based Hospitality Investment Management company is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Accountant to join their accounting & finance team. If you have a passion for numbers, strong problem-solving skills, remote accounting/bookkeeping experience, and familiarity with Quickbooks & other ERP software, this could be an excellent job for you!
In this role, you will be managing the financial transactions and records of our organization. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial data, preparation and presentation of financial statements, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and regulations. This role is critical in providing valuable insights to support informed decision-making and maintaining the financial health of the company.
For this position, there will be an initial need for 10 hours a week, but within three months the hours needed is expected to increase 20 hours per week, and by 2024 it is expected to be a full-time position. Pay is competitive and based upon experience, with the potential for substantial upside and bonuses.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and expense reports.
- Perform daily bookkeeping activities, reconciling bank statements, and tracking financial transactions to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, working collaboratively with the finance team to ensure financial targets are aligned with business objectives.
- Assist with the timely preparation and filing of tax returns. Stay updated with tax laws and regulations and ensure accurate tax reporting
- Create and facilitate project specific draw requests pursuant to guidance from lenders and the development team.
- Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits to provide necessary financial documentation and ensure compliance.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential areas for improvement, providing recommendations to management for optimizing financial performance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial planning policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company assets and enhance overall financial efficiency.
- Manage vendor accounts, oversee invoice processing, and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Compliance and Regulation: Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards, local regulations, and company policies.
- Provide clear and concise financial communication, both written and verbal, to management and other stakeholders as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus.
- Proven work experience as a Remote Accounting Clerk or in a similar financial role.
- Knowledge of the hospitality and/or investment management industry is a plus.
- Experience with accounting and financial software such as Quickbooks
- Thorough understanding of financial reporting, and taxation. Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to effectively collaborate with team members and present financial info clearly.
- Efficient time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High level of integrity and ethics when handling sensitive financial information.
- Proactive problem-solving capabilities and ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
Job Specifications:
