Dear Parents/Guardians, Estimados padres/guardianes

My name is Edna Feldman-Schultz, and everyone calls me Señora Edna. I will be your child’s Spanish 2, Spanish AP , Spanish 5, Advisor or Supervisor teacher this year. If you know me already you know how loud, passionate, sound a little angry,sarcastic, blunt,  and crazy I get, but it’s mainly because of my love for teaching, and knowledge! If you don’t , you should know that I consider your children MY children too!                                                                               Mi nombre es Edna Feldman-Schultz, pero todos me llaman Sra. Edna. Yo seré la maestra de Español 3, AP , Spanish 5, Clase hogar, or Supervisadora de clase. Si Ud. me conoce ya sabe que soy muy apasionada por aprender y enseñar. Hablo muy fuerte y a veces parezco enojada, sarcástica y soy un poco loca. Quiero que sepa que considero a todos mis estudiantes como si fueran mis propios hijos.

 I was born in Argentina, I have been married for 35 years to my husband Frank ( a reporter for the local paper) and have 2 incredible children, both Parker graduates. Adelina and Oren, both bi/trilingual. I also speak 5 languages, and most of the time I write/talk more with my heart than my brain! Sorry for my grammar!)                                                Nací en la Argentina, estoy casada con mi esposo Frank por 34 años y él es un reportero en el diario local. Tengo una hija Adelina de 28 años y un hijo, Oren de 24 y medio. Los dos increíbles y también se graduaron de la Parker. Ellos también hablas 2-3 lenguas. Casi todo el tiempo yo hablo/escribo  más con el corazón que con el cerebro!

I am firm, but very fair, and have very high expectations from all my students. My philosophy is NOT to lower the bar, but to help every one of my students reach a level of success! and ...Everybody is important and “somebody” in my classroom!                                                                                                                                                        Soy firme, pero muy justa, y engo expectaciones muy altas para mis estudiantes. Mi filosofía no es bajar las expectaciones sino ayudar a mis estudiantes a conseguirlas y llegar a tener éxito! También que cada uno de ellos es “alguien” y es importante!

My particular style of teaching is based on five principles: 1. setting high expectations for EVERY student, 2. showing respect for all students, and expecting respect in return, 3. involving parents or guardians,4. making mistakes, and finding solutions by yourself, and last, but certainly not least, A POSITIVE MIND SETTING CAN BRING SUCCESS TO ANY PERSON! ¡Querer es poder!(If you want something, you can achieve it!) We will all work together to achieve success!

Mi estilo de enseñanza está basado en 5  metas: 1. tener altas expectaciones de todos los estudiante, 2.dar respeto a todos, 3. incluir a los padres/guardianes, 4. Cometer errores y buscar respuestas por uno mismo, y por último creer que todos mis estudiantes pueden lograr éxito en sus vidas. !Querer es poder!

Unfortunately (or gladly) I can’t do this alone, I need your support, and hope you feel free to call, e-mail me,  Skype or come and talk face to face with me to discuss how can we work together to have an exciting and wonderful learning experience for your child. If we work together and support each other, our students will have better success.      Desafortunadamente ( o mejor dicho, gracias a eso) no puedo conseguir mi meta  sola, necesito su ayuda, así que por favor siéntase bien llamándome por teléfono, escribiéndome un correo electrónico, o si lo prefiero viniendo a nuestra clase de visita, si necesita hablar conmigo. Si trabajamos juntos, los estudiantes tendrán más oportunidades para triunfar.

My goal is that all my students will achieve 80% or better grades in our class. I am in school usually by 7:45 am, and leave after 4:15 pm., if your child will needs extra assistance he/she can make an appointment for before or after school help.                                                                                                                                    Mi meta es que todos los estudiantes alcancen el 80% o una calificación mayor en mi clase. Estoy en Parker generalmente a las 7:45 de la mañana y me quedo en mi clase generalmente hasta las 4:15 de la tarde si es necesario. Si los chicos quieren hacer una cita más temprano, o tarde también esto es posible.

I want to share some of my passion for learning languages, and to make your child aware of all the doors that could open in their future, just because they will know another language.                                                                                                       Quiero compartir mi pasión por aprender lenguas y exponer a mis estudiantes a todos las oportunidades que se pueden concretar, por saber otro idioma.

I usually send an e-mail once a week/post on my site, or in my Google Classroom page information so you know what we are doing in our classes. I would like to share with you some other site to keep the communication flowing between you, your child and me. In my classroom page students can find handouts and lesson plans (in case they were absent).                                                                                                                                                                             Generalmente yo pongo la tarea y las noticias de la clase en mi sitio de web, aquí están los enlaces.

To help your child succeed in my Spanish class, there are three simple things that you can do: 

Para ayudar a su muchacho/a en casa por favor siga estos consejos”

1. STUDY AT HOME—Make sure that your student studies throughout the week.  We will have a quiz or

test every week.  Your student should also expect homework in my class every day. 

Asegúrese que estudie en casa durante la semana. Siempre habrá una prueba, examen,proyecto, o tarea para completar.

(If your child is in my Advisory/Study Hall, it’s good advice for other classes too!)

2. STUDY SESSIONS—I am committed to helping your student be successful in my class.  I will be after school to help students, if needed.  Please encourage your child to take advantage of this help. They also can call,(they will have my home phone number) Skype or send e-mails to me; I will check this daily before 8 pm.

Los estudiantes pueden recibir ayuda después de clase, vía correo- electrónico, etc. antes de las 8 de la noche. Ellos tendrán el número de teléfono de mi casa también.

     3.   ENCOURAGE—Encourage your student to ask questions in class and come in for extra help when they          need it.  Also, praise them for doing well…they deserve it!  Aliente a su muchacho/a a hacer preguntas si necesita ayuda, diganles cuanto los aprecian y están orgullosos de ello/as

I have provided your student an outline of classroom procedures, and expectations. .Las pólizas y procedimientos de nuestra clase están a disposición de los estudiantes y también en línea.

Your child should complete the Student Survey, This is your child’s first assignment and the essay at the end of the survey will be his/her first grade this quarter! Los estudiantes tendrán que completar el cuestionario como el primer trabajo de entrega.

To help me serve your student better, I would be grateful if you could take five minutes out of your busy day and complete  parent survey as well.  Please have your student return it to me along with your signature or e-mail it to me. Para poder ayudar y conocer a mis estudiantes mejor, hay un cuestionario que les pido a los padres/guardianes que completen también.
