Meeting Agenda and Club News

Michiana Festival of Beers: October 19 from 3-6p (VIP admission at 2p) at Four Winds Field in South Bend. Sign-up sheet has been posted. This is MEGA’s premier event for 2019, so be sure to sign up, mark your calendars, and represent!

MEGA Barrel Project: We’re still tracking down a couple of usable barrels, but sign-up sheets and Russian Imperial Stout and barleywine recipes have been posted. In order to fill the barrels we’ll need 10-12 participants (brewing five-gallon batches) for each beer. Once the barrel aging is complete, you’ll get back the volume you contributed.

Homebrew Con Seminars: Homebrew Con is an annual event hosted by the AHA. The conference includes dozens of seminars on beer, mead, and cider. The AHA website contains audio and video recordings of these seminars from each year dating back to 2012. Join the AHA to gain access to them. You won’t find a resource like this anywhere else!

News: Other old business and new business.

Education Topic: English Pale Ale family and Mild.

MEGA Ingredients Inventory: MEGA members are eligible and encouraged to use select hops and grain from the club’s inventory. Any beer brewed with these ingredients must be available to serve at a MEGA event (e.g., Michiana Festival of Beers). You can see what hops and grain we have by visiting the website and hovering over the “Members” tab and clicking on “MEGA BREWING INVENTORY.” You must be logged in and have member permissions to access this page. If you see anything you would like to use, there is a form at the bottom of the page to submit your request.

MEGA Supplies Inventory: MEGA has PBW ($3.50/lb.), StarSan ($0.75/oz.), and Golden Light DME ($2.50/lb.) for sale. These are available for purchase at club meetings. Bring your own container. If you’re planning to purchase, please notify us in advance so we remember to bring the supplies.
