CTAC’s 2018-19 Performing Arts Series Kicks-off with the Dave Bennett Quartet

On Friday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m., Crooked tree Arts Center’s Performing Arts Series swings into action with the Dave Bennett Quartet.

The Dave Bennett Quartet is known for enthralling audiences with toe-tapping swing, moody blues, and emotional ballads. The foursome features Swing era music, country, rockabilly, and pop, with original, brand-new jazz compositions thrown in. The work and sound of Benny Goodman, Pete Fountain, Jerry Lee Lewis, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel have greatly influenced the group’s music.

The quartet is led by clarinet virtuoso Dave Bennett, who also plays electric guitar, piano, drums, and vocalizes. At the age of 10, Dave began teaching himself clarinet while listening and playing along to his Benny Goodman records. Two years later, he was invited by legendary jazz trumpeter Doc Cheatham to the bandstand of New York’s famous Sweet Basil jazz club. By 14, Dave was frequently touring around the U.S. with Michigan’s New Reformation Dixieland Band. Thus far, Bennett has been a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops; played music festivals across the United States, including The Suncoast Classic Jazz Festival, The Arizona Classic Jazz Festival, and The Elkhart Jazz Festival; and this year, his second CD, “Blood Moon,” hit No. 24 on the Billboard Jazz chart. With his successful career already spanning two decades, fans can’t wait to see what the next twenty years have in store!

Join Crooked Tree this October for a musical treat! Tickets for the Dave Bennett Quartet are $25 for CTAC Members, $35 for Non-Members, and $10 for students.
