Blacklisting Procedure

What is a blacklisting and why we do it:

Blacklisting is the act of barring a user from taking certain roles.
Blacklisting is rare and the action to do so on users is not taken lightly.

For a user to be considered for blacklisting, they must show a severe, or beyond reasonable doubt, lack of competency, to either the staff team or the collective playerbase.

The reason for blacklisting is so that users cannot continuously make the same mistakes and affect the health of gameplay.

What should be the length of a blacklist:

Blacklists should come in three forms.

1.
Timeout
An example of this would be a user connecting to the server inebriated or under the influence of substances, taking an important role such as the platoon commander and completely failing in the role. In this example, the blacklist would be a timeout for X period of time. Once the time has expired the individual would be allowed to be that role again.

  1. Applying it:

Any Admin/GM can start a motion for the timeout. It will be discussed and voted on by Admins/GMs.

  1. Lifting it:

The length of the timeout will be decided as a collective agreement of the Admins/GMs.

2. Barring
Used in the more outrageous or clear view that the user lacks competency in the role and not some temporary impediment like being drunk.

Barring is used to stop someone from taking certain roles until the staff agrees that he is proven to be adequately competent in the relevant roles.

  1. Applying it:

Any Admin/GM can start a motion for the barring. It will be discussed and voted on by Admins/GMs.

  1. Lifting it:

The barred will have to arrange an off-session day in which he will demonstrate that he has corrected the mistakes that caused his barring to an Admin/GM. This can be done on a Zeus mission or similar. If this is not applicable or not necessary, a simple conversation where he recognizes his mistakes and lays out the correct and proper techniques will suffice.

3. Temp barring

This is to be used as an emergency for the sake of the gameplay health as by discretion of the Admin/GM team. The barred in this case will be immediately removed from the role. Insistence will cause the situation to be elevated to the appropriate measures. The temp barring will last for the current day only. Usually this will be used as the first step before applying the previous methods in detail. Else it can be used if the player is suffering from internet issues or has shown some behavior that can be deemed problematic like going AFK too much and not being responsive.

  1. Applying it:

If deemed necessary, a GM or Admin can issue this “temporary barring”. The person will be advised and given an explanation.

  1. Lifting it:

Automatic after the day.
