Dear Fourth Grade Families,

I am so excited to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year, and I am so happy to have your child in my class! This year will be full of learning experiences and discoveries. I am looking forward to having a great year with you and your child! Fourth grade is a very important transitional year, bridging the gap between primary and upper grades. It is my wish that fourth grade will help your child grow as a student and as a person.

I am a firm believer in parent teacher communication, after all, we have something very special in common, your child! Feel free to drop by for a visit anytime before or after school. I look forward to getting to know you this school year.  Please take the time to send me an email ajohnson@mcswain.k12.ca.us so that I have your email address on file and can easily contact you if needed. Routines, academics, expectations, and curriculum will be discussed during Back to School Night. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your child. We are going to have a great year together!

The following items are things that every student needs to have at school everyday.  Please have your child talk to me if they do not have any of these items and I will make sure they get what they need.

• A minimum of 3 sharpened pencils or mechanical pencils
• 1 eraser
• 2 ink pens (black, blue or green)
• 2 highlighters
• 2 dry erase markers
• 1 whiteboard eraser (an old rag or sock will work)
• 2 glue sticks
• A small pencil box or bag
• 1 three ring binder (1½ inch) that will STAY AT SCHOOL

• Please get a basic three ring binder.  If your child chooses to have something else to bring back and forth to school, then that is fine.

• 1 package of lined paper
• 5 binder dividers tabs
• 4 composition books (these hold up throughout the entire year)
• 2 large book covers for textbooks
• 2 boxes facial tissue (donation)
• 2 containers cleaning wipes (donation)

We encourage, but do not require 1 pack of washable markers, 1 pack of crayons, 1 pair of student scissors, 1 package of sticky notes, and colored pencils.
