CROSSVILLE, Tenn. -- The third-ranked Bradley Central Bearettes comeback fell short as they fell to Stone Memorial, 54-44, on Saturday evening on a cold shooting night.

Jamaryn Blair and Alexis Barnes threw in 12 points apiece to pace the Bradley offense. Anna Walker was the next leading scorer with seven.

After falling behind 12-7 after the first break Stone Memorial (17-6) was able to extend their lead to 11 to go up 30-19 at the half.

Bradley Central (19-3) came out on all cylinders out of the break outscoring the Lady Panthers 19-10 in the third quarter behind five points by Anna Roberts and Blair. After Stone stretched the lead to 14 with 6:54 left the Bearettes went on a seven-point run to cut the lead to five before a Kaleigh Hughes 3-pointer put the score at 40-38 with 1:03 left in the third.

The hosts were able to fight off the comeback winning the fourth quarter 14-6 to win 54-44.

Tessa Miller led the Lady Panthers with 16 points and 11 rebounds to complete the double-double. Emily Boyd pitched in with 12 as Alex Eldridge finished the game with 11 points.

Stone Memorial never trailed in the game and outscored Bradley 16-7 off turnovers, and 26-18 in the paint.

Bradley shot 15-of-49 overall (30.6 percent) and 25 percent (6-of-24) from behind the 3-point line. Stone shot a hot 48.6 percent (18-of-37) overall while going 5-of-11 (45.5 percent) from distance. The Lady Panthers won the battle on the glass 31-26.

The Bearettes will return to Jim Smiddy Arena as they take on East Hamilton in a tough district 5 AAA matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Bradley then welcomes Ooltewah for a district contest on Friday with tip-off scheduled for 6.
