Course Description:  Students will learn and/or review the alphabetic and symbol keys using the touch-type method of keyboarding.  They will work to increase keyboarding speed and accuracy through the use of proper keyboarding technique.  Learners will develop formatting skills for documents such as letters, reports, and outlines which will be needed for preparing assignments in other classes.  They will further develop their presentation skills.  Students will utilize numerous software applications.  They will continue to learn about Internet safety.

Keyboarding

  • Learn and/or review why it is important to learn keyboarding
  • Understand the home row of the keyboard and which fingers are responsible for each key
  • Understand and use proper keyboarding posture
  • Practice keyboarding to learn the alphabetic keys and symbols
  • Understand what typing speed and accuracy are
  • Take timed typing tests
  • Set a goal for improving typing speed and accuracy
  • Continue improving typing speed and accuracy
