Bookshare User Guide

There are two ways to search for books: Search (Standard and Advanced) and Browse. In this guide, we will focus on Search (Standard and Advanced).

LOG-IN

  1. Go to https://www.bookshare.org
  2. Log-in with your username and password. Don’t forget to check ‘remember me’ if you are logging in on your personal device.

SEARCH

  1. Standard Search: Enter a search term in the Search Text Box located at the top of every page. This searches all text, including the title, author and contents of every book in the library. You can also search by ISBN # (the 10-digit or 13-digit number found below the barcode on the back of most books).

  1. Advanced Search: For a narrower search, select “Advanced Search” next to the Browse link.

  1. You can search specifically by title, author, ISBN, publisher, images, or you can enter specific phrases in the “full text” field.

DOWNLOAD THE BOOK-SEARCH RESULTS

  1. Find the book (check edition and copyright date).
  2. Choose READ NOW or choose ‘EPUB’ from the dropdown menu (Set Preferences...EPUB).
  3. Click on ‘Download’.

  1. You will be directed to the ‘My History’ page. This page lists all of the books available to you, prepared either by you, or by someone in your organization.
  2. Click on ‘Available’ to finish downloading the book.

  1. Save the book to Google Drive.

READ THE BOOK

  1. Find the book in Google Drive.
  2. Right-Click (or double click) to Open

            with...Read&Write for Google Chrome.

  1. Use Read&Write for Google tools to

            access the book.
