Catalog Description
This course provides guidance on how to guide a child through the traumatic experience of suicide loss. Students will examine supporting common grief reactions in children. Students will learn how schools can support a student who is affected by a suicide loss.

Course objectives
1. Define postvention.
2. Identify self-care activities that can be utilized during the trauma of a suicide.
3. Explain the developmental stages of grief that are impacted by age.
4. Discuss ways to address suicide in a school setting.
5. Explain the terms grief wave and brain attack.

Assignments:
1. Answer the textbook questions in paragraph form.
2. Create a power-point, newsletter, brochure, or flyer explaining the developmental stages of grief.
3. Write a 2-page paper discussing ways to address suicide in a school setting.
4. Write a paper explaining suicide contagion.

The process
Educators will order the course on the website, www.studentservicesacademy.com
SSA will send a course syllabus as well as a textbook for free. (if required) After the assignments are completed and have been graded by the instructor, the instructor will then send an email stating that the coursework is up to standard or provide opportunities to revise and resubmit the work. Revision opportunities will be granted until the coursework has met the standard. Student may then order a transcript from the university.

Formatting Requirements
Use size 12-point font and double spacing. Use your own styling format or an APA writing style format.
Academic dishonesty
Academic Dishonesty: Academic dishonesty is any form of cheating which results in students giving or receiving unauthorized assistance in an academic exercise or receiving credit for work which is not their own. In cases of academic dishonesty, the instructor will inform the chair of the department prior to implementation of punitive action. Academic dishonesty is grounds for disciplinary action by both the instructor and the Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management. Any student judged to have engaged in academic dishonesty may receive a failing grade for the work in question, a failing grade for the course, or any other lesser penalty which the instructor finds appropriate. To dispute an accusation of academic dishonest, the student should first consult with the instructor. If the dispute remains unresolved, the student may then state his or her case to the department chair (or the dean if the department chair is the instructor of the course).
