Spanish

 Learning Goals for the Year:

  • Interpreting the meaning of simple phrases in Spanish while utilizing visuals and prompts.
  • Encouraging them to express themselves in Spanish using simple words and phrases.
  • I will be doing lots of repetition to improve their understanding and listening skills in Spanish.
  • Comparing the students’ culture and the target culture

All About Me Activities (“Todo Sobre Mi”):

Some students are still finishing up presentations!

After Fall break, students will be learning about Hispanic Heritage month:

  • Why it's celebrated on September 15
  • What the difference between Latin, Hispanic and Latin X is

Students in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th have been finishing up their “All About Me” activities and some of them have presented to the class. This has been a big project and some students have not presented yet. I encouraged everyone to present and to express themselves in Spanish. This will be counted as a grade in Spanish this quarter. Students had the option to present alone, with a friend or a few friends (for support) or they could present to me privately if presenting in front of everyone caused too much stress or anxiety. I am VERY proud of all the students who have stepped outside of their comfort zone to present something in another language!

Here are a few videos of students who allowed me to video them to share with the families. More videos have been added! Check it out!
