Now is the Time, Here is the Place

Every year, I sit down to write this section of our program book for Beltane. Almost always, it ends up being about what I’m thinking about, and I guess that’s inevitable. This year is no different. My life is in an overt, external change mode, in a good way. I’m moving my home (and therefore my office, as I work from home) this year, and while that’s a positive move for me and my family, it’s profoundly disrupting and distracting. I’m constantly being brought back to the here and now by my mantra, It is what it is.

What does that have to do with Beltane? I’ve produced this event for a long long time. I’ve met lots of wonderful people and experienced all kinds of things while doing both Beltane and the other events I’ve run over the years. You really can’t please everyone with any event, but I’ve noticed a pattern in people who do get good things out of these events.

Obviously, there are external things that can make an event less than perfect, like, for example, the weather, or stink bugs, or the people who won’t stop making loud love with each other in the next cabin at 5 am.

There are ways to set your mind so you get the best possible experience. People who do, I’ve noticed, have a non-judgmental approach to being at the event. They arrived perhaps with intention, but not with expectations. They work at being present, trying not to obsess about whatever the next class they’re going to will be or how they wish the ritual they were in was being run rather than how it actually is. When they interact with others, be they strangers, friends or lovers, they do so with as much of their attention as they can muster.

My dear friend Sabrina and I have taught a class on mindful kissing in the past which was built on a foundation of being in the moment, and I’ve noticed that many of our longtime, happiest attendees are mindful and focus on the here and now.

Sounds easy, but it’s human nature to drift off and chase the cars of stray thoughts like a dog chasing the postman. So try this: if you feel your mind starting to run off on a tangent, take a deep breath in with the word “here”, hold it for a brief time, then exhale “now”. Welcome to Beltane.               ~Cat C.

The Main Rituals

This year’s ritual main rituals are presented by:

Inspired Iniquity is a lifelong eclectic pagan and polymorphous pervert. They enjoy walking the worlds of sex, spirit, and science in search of answers to universal questions and to have an awesome time.

Tiff has previously worked with Druids, is a Bluestar initiate, general goofball, and instigator of shenanigans. Can give a loving touch with either a kiss or a sand mallet.

Eyrie is delighted by paradox, craves the liminal, and is unabashedly inquisitive about all aspects of human behavior.  She is a polyamorous, demisexual slut, who's spirituality is very much bound up in kink, sex, and the science and magic of ritual-making.  Read more about Eyrie in her presenter biography, below.

Úlfdís is one of the witches they warn you about in the Hávamál. A Völva owned and operated by Angrboda, they are a Northern Tradition Pagan/Heathen and a student of the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. Queer Femme, They/Them. They can be found on social media as IronwoodWitch, and at IronwoodWitch.com. They are currently based out of Philadelphia, where they reside with many cats. When not out a-viking, they enjoy making - food, art, words and stories, etc.

Opening Ritual: Building the Container- Thursday, 3:15pm - 4:30pm, Meet at Parking Field

We will meet at the parking lot and have a processional around camp building a circle as we go, invoking the elements and gods and sacralizing the whole space of camp. We will again be erecting shrines throughout the camp in addition to the maypole, pavilion, dungeon and sacred sexuality temples and blessing them as we build our sacred space. A golf cart taxi will be available for all who need it.

Triple Blessing Ritual - Friday, 3:15pm - 4:00pm, Gather at Upper Fire Circle

We will gather at the fire pit and explore what energies call to us, and then process to a short ritual to bless and align ourselves with one of three energetic modality.  Whether it’s a dick or a stick, a frond or a wand, a sword or a word we all have things that we project out into the world as our power and influence. Likewise whether a cup or a cunt, a womb or a tomb, a cave or a concept we all have things we receive and take in. Scales of balance or the scales of a coiled ouroboros serpent, sunshowers and waterfalls over fires, eclipses and ellipses; the contrast of seeming opposites and/or the blending thereof can also hold great power. Those called to the expressive and projective will process to the maypole, those called to the receptive and nurturative to the labyrinth and those who feel called to both or neither will remain "in the middle" at the fire pit to explore those energies. At these three rituals we will honor them both in their own ways. All rituals are welcoming and actively inviting those of any/all/no specific gender identity. While in these rites you are selecting a role it is important to remember that we can always choose another (and can totally do so at later rituals). If you have a physical item that symbolizes one of these concepts for you please bring it to use in the rite but do not worry if you do not have such an item or even feel like not working with an object as this is about intent and expression and while at times helpful tools are not always needed (and the strongest tool may be your will). Taxis will be available for anyone that needs it.

Following the Triple Blessing, we will gather on the ritual field for…

Maypole Dance - Friday, 4:00pm, Ritual Field

The traditional dance around the maypole with ribbons and music! Calling all musicians and dancers! Come one come all. Afterwards we revel on the lawn!

Main Ritual: Kindling the Kindred Spirit - Saturday, 8pm, Ritual Field

We will begin the main ritual at the liminal point of dusk as the sun sets and the transition from diurnal to nocturnal begins. The focus is on conceiving and fertilizing our intentions and best selves and bringing that with us in our works. The ritual will conclude with a processional up from the maypole to the upper fire circle. As the processional passes through the gate at the upper fire pit, we will pass the torch to spark a fire in the sacred womb.  A taxi will again be at our service for anyone that needs it.

Closing Ritual: Open But Unbroken - Sunday, 10:30 - 11:30am, Ritual Field

We will open our circle and thank the gods and spirits for their aid in out rites and go out into the world taking what we’ve learned and done with us.

This year we will again be bringing back the temple of love and pleasure in Cabins 19/20! A sacred space for sex and other expression of love and pleasure this space was hailed by an attendee as a place that "you can't help but want to get down in!  This space will be open throughout the event for folks to use in acts of love and pleasure.  Please avail yourself of it, and remember - leave it as good or better than you found it!

Live Your Fantasy with Beth & Preston - Cabin ABCD

What are your fantasies? What would it be like to actually “live” your fantasy at this event? What if you could design a scene that would actually give you a sense of living your fantasy? This session is for you if...

• You have a fantasy you would like to experience.

• Your “kink,” like mine, is helping other people live their fantasy.

• You want a first-hand look at the actual process of turning a fantasy into a scene.

At previous events several attendees enjoyed creating and living their fantasy. We have years of experience creating fantasy realities for ourselves and for others, fantasies as simple as being touched by a group of people and as extreme as virgin sacrifice. Would you like to make your fantasy part of your event this year?

Our goal for this class is to extend beyond the workshop time into scenes that provide for you to live your fantasy.

Fire Circle & Rhythmic Community Space with the Fire Ritual Crew - Upper Fire Circle

Join the fire crew and musical/rhythmical magicians at the fire circle each day from 1pm-3pm to learn about fire tech, keeping the energy moving, setting the space, etc…   A great time to participate in creation of what we manifest each evening.  If you would like to bring any type of play or scene or offering to the evening's fire, this is a good time to visit with the fire crew to set that up so they can help make space for it.

Thursday 4:30pm - 6:30pm

Music and the Scene with Irdu_Lili86 & FireOnWater - Playspace

“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” ― Bob Marley

Music is so often in included in our lives and in our scenes. But do we even hear it? Do we feel it? Does it shape us? In this class we will work on showing you how music can shape your scenes, from fireplay, heavy impact, sensation play, and whatever else you can dream of. We’ll discuss how to use music as a top to shape your scenes, as a bottom to feel a scene, and what to do when the house music leaves something to be desired. You’ll learn how to lose yourself in music and the scene or use the music to drive the scene. Anyone is welcome to join in the music with us.

How We Think About Sex with Thista Minai - Cabin ABCD

What is sex, and how do you know when you've had it? What does it mean to be a virgin, and how did virginity become so important? In this class we'll peek at the history of sex and virginity, tracing contemporary concepts back to ancient Greek roots. Come untangle historical baggage and empower yourself with a way of thinking about sex that fosters agency, intimacy, and pleasure.

Tools for Joyful Connections at Beltane & Beyond with Dawson Driver & Indigo Dawn - Cabin ABCD

Beltane is a chance to form connections, learn new things, and share amazing moments with like-minded people. This is only possible if we all support mutual joy, freedom of choice, and a culture of consent. In this workshop, we’ll play juicy, experiential connecting games to practice key skills for joyful connecting and trauma reduction. And we’ll discuss how to avoid common communication pitfalls and move towards clarity, harmony, and synergy in connection.  Whether we’re sharing touch, sexuality, a scene, or just being ourselves, let’s lay the groundwork for shared pleasure, intimacy, and choice.

Body Image Discussion Group with Zebrine Gray - Back of Dining Hall

Our society and mass media create idealistic body images that no one – not even supermodels – could ever meet. We all have issues with body image. The facilitator, Zebrine, will begin by sharing her story of coming to terms with her body after a mastectomy. In the discussion that follows, others will have an opportunity to share their own stories. We will close with a meditation technique and practice to help improve body image and self-love.

Queer Erotic Art, from Ancient to Modern with Lemaris - The Scarlet Den (9pm)
Queer love, beauty, identity, and sexuality have always existed, in spite of monumental efforts throughout history to suppress their understanding or expression.  Come and kick off The Scarlet Den’s events, by enjoying a slide show of art featuring images ancient and modern, familiar and obscure. Part academic, part appreciation, this presentation celebrates LGBTQA++ art and artists, followed by refreshments and an after party.

Welcome Fire with Ritual Fire Crew - Upper Fire Circle (9pm)

A great place to meet new friends, catch up with old ones and get a good idea of what will be happening around the fire for the weekend.  Please join us to open our hearts and the fire circle.

Friday 10am - 12noon

Rope for Sex with Lola - Playspace

Would you like to find out just how much fun you can have using rope during sex? Discover the joys of the sinewy texture on your lovers skin. Untangle the mysteries of simple knots that hold your lover firmly in place as you revel in mutual erotic delight. This very straightforward workshop will introduce you to the particular joy of rope in a sexual encounter with your partner. You don't need any previous skill with elaborate knots. You don't need to plumb ancient traditions. You just need to have a partner to work with, and a real desire to be playful together. Please bring your own rope if you have it (there will be a very limited amount of rope available for practice use). Bring something comfortable to play on - a sheet or blanket. Note that if you do not have a partner, you're welcome to attend, but we can't guarantee you'll do anything but watch.

This workshop is strongly built on consent as agreement: no agreement = no consent = no playtime! No exceptions! We’ll cover what that means at the start and it will be put into play prior to any activities. Please be on time as late arrivals will only be spectators.

Safe, Sexy Sex with Michael Rios & Dawson Driver - Playspace Side Room A

In this workshop, we'll use discussion and demos to explore up-to-date scientifically and medically sound information on how to manage health issues for anyone who has multiple sexual partners--including how we can have *safe* sex, not just "safer" sex. We cover specific techniques, brands, and concepts that allow responsible sex without damaging pleasure or intimacy, and we will practice the "Safe Sex Elevator Speech."

Fireplay: From Theatrics to Healing with FireOnWater - Barn

Have you ever wanted to learn fireplay? Do you want to learn different techniques and styles? Learn how to do fireplay, how different techniques can be used, and maybe a new trick or two. FireOnWater approaches fireplay in a ritualistic/therapeutic sense, so if you are interested in learning this or other approaches, come join us! There will be chances to top or bottom for the class for those interested (and yes, you CAN do fireplay if you’re hairy). Fire was one of her first obsessions and she loves to share that with others. From theatrics to healing, you're invited to get lost in the flames.

Cocksecration with Thista Minai - Cabin ABCD

Consecrate your tool of choice in a hands-on workshop! Come learn how to apply traditional methods of imbuing objects with sacred power to a variety of sex toys and safer sex supplies. We'll even look at how body parts can get in on the action! Bring an object of your choice to consecrate in class, whether it's a vibrator, a strap-on, a bottle of lube, a box of gloves, or your own... tool.

Risking Connection: Setting Intent for Intimacy at Events with Eyrie - Cabin S&T

Sacred sexuality events give us the chance to connect with others in hot, intimate, enriching, and sometimes profoundly transformative ways. In engaging with others at such events, do you ever consider what your goals are for the encounter? (Beyond the mutual shared pleasure of the moment, of course!)

Sometimes, the partner we find in that class or in the field is simply a stand in for an opportunity to experience love or growth in our lives.  Sometimes, there is a deep heart connection that sparks and emerges from the weekend, blossoming into an ongoing relationship.

Can you know beforehand how the encounter may impact you?  Probably not.  But by being present with each other's desires, you can set an intent for whether intimate encounters at events evolve after packing up and going home, or if you chose to leave them as simply fond memories of a special weekend.

This class will address:

- How to examine your goals for intimacy at an event, and how to communicate about those goals quickly and easily within the flow of spontaneity and connection.

- How the environment of cons or events magnifies the intensity of the connection, and how to choose whether you sustain that with a partner after the event.

- How to use opportunities for intimacy and sexual connection with new people to enhance intimacy with existing partners, and ethical considerations for such.

While physical consent is understood as a core tenant of healthy sexuality, this class addresses a deeper level:  ensuring consent around each others’ hopes and the possible aftereffects of engaging in intense intimacy at an event.

Sex After Trauma with Dianna Lynn - Back of Dining Hall

Sex is a beautiful expression of love and connection, a physical celebration and honoring of the gods.  Still, we pagans carry scars; we are not immune to trauma, and trauma can come anytime—from an accident, an illness, surgery, the death of a loved one, or abuse.  No one expects great sex in the midst of trauma, but we do expect things to get back to normal.  What if they don’t?  Even when trauma is over, we may find our sexuality has changed.  Instead of the joyful, pleasurable, fun activity we are used to, sex might feel like just another problem.  It doesn’t have to be that way!

In this class, we’ll address a variety of questions connected to the post-trauma sexuality issue, including: What is considered normal?  What are the typical effects of trauma?  What negative factors are affecting me?  How do I deal with emotional blocks?  What if I have no sex drive?  What if sex creates more stress than it heals?  What if I physically cannot do what I am used to?  How do I deal with sex being different?  What is the role of spirituality?  To sum up, how can I use touch and sexuality to help me recover?

This class will include both the presentation of information and opportunities for people to share.  In the first half, we will focus on background and emotional issues, and in the second, we’ll concentrate on the physical.  Handouts including all class notes will be provided.  You’ll need a pen and paper for recording thoughts.

This class is designed for people in recovery from trauma and their partners, although any person is certainly welcome to attend alone and will benefit.

Friday 11:00am - 12noon

True Consent: Womyn, Submission and Self Love with Dirty Mother - The Red Tent (Cabin OPQR)

All womyn welcome.  We have a responsibility to ourselves and to the sacred kink community to dialogue and learn from each other’s experiences, to support and empower each other as womyn, and to create safe and sacred space to explore all forms of kink. The hot topic of true consent is a recurring issue that should always be openly addressed. Where is the line between what is healthy consent and empty verbal agreements? Between healing catharsis and cyclical abuse? How do we discover and identify our boundaries and know when to push them and when to hold them fortified. How do we identify healthy relationships and experiences? These questions are not so easily answered one way, the complexity and controversy surrounding consent is the very reason we must continually hold the discussion and as Pagan womyn honor the Goddess within ourselves by making our kink reflect our self-love in all decisions we make.

Friday 1:00pm - 3:00pm

You Want to Do What? or, BDSM 101 with Kate - Playspace

Back by popular demand! An overview of what you can expect to see or hear in the BDSM community, as well as issues related to playing in "public." This workshop will review etiquette, implements, and toys. Terminology and general concepts will be outlined and types of play may be demonstrated. Questions will be welcomed! This workshop is highly recommended for folks new to the BDSM Scene who would like to attend the Festival's play space, which will immediately follow this workshop. Bring an open mind, your ideas and your questions!

The Science of Sex and Orgasms... and How It Can Improve Yours with Beth & Preston - Playspace Side Room

It doesn’t take science to tell us sex is fun. And most of us in this community do our own fair share of “research” into what makes it better. But that doesn’t mean science has nothing to contribute. There are only a few names that made a record for their sex research, but they are not alone in the field.

Sex research has not been well published, in fact it has often been ignored. Science is catching up and revealing that even medical schools have used an anatomy model that is both inaccurate and incorrect, especially with regard to women. In this science-based class we will look at some of the research that has been done and how that can inform our sexual practices to make sex and orgasms even better and more enjoyable.

Inventive Impact with Madame Tak - Barn

Necessity is the mother of invention, with impact scenes being no exception. Not everyone has or needs a fully decked out kit, but with some common items available at vanilla stores, you can boost your bag of holding. Pick up some tips and tricks to make the most of your tools and surroundings, enhancing your scenes!

Oaths, Divination, Healing: the Ethics of Magical/Spiritual Workings with Others with Eyrie - Cabin ABCD

Whether one simply holds an altar and a space in the heart for deity, or is a god-slave, or anything in between, what do YOU do when deity calls?  Say 'yes,' unequivocally, or negotiate with the request?  What if it involves someone not bound to your deity or tradition?  When is it ok to 'read' a person, or offer magical or divine intercession? Is consent necessary before doing such work, and if so, when and why?

This class will cover reflections, questions, and strategies to consider how to say yes (or sometimes, a polite no or 'not yet') with a clearer understanding of intent, tasks, and desired outcomes.

Real-life scenarios of ethical challenges will be discussed, and participants are encouraged to bring their own dilemmas.

Meditative Intimacy Part 2: Partnered Practice with Connect-om - Cabin S&T

In this class, we will allow our meditative experience to guide us into how it feels to love another (or many others). We’ll introduce practices that deepen your awareness of both giving and receiving pleasure. We’ll talk about how the depth of desire is a doorway into some of the most profound states of connection, with your partner(s), with yourself, and with the universe. Please join us. Attending part 1 is not required to enjoy part 2.

Touch, Breath, Receiving & Giving for the Erotic Awakening Massage with Lola - Back of Dining Hall
The erotic awakening massage needs three things: touch, breath and the willingness to receive or give.  That’s it.  This workshop introduces you to these essential elements as a prerequisite to the Erotic Awakening Massage practice workshop that follows later during this event.  The Resilient Edge of Resistance is fully conscious touch, using a whole hand movement for gliding, kneading, vibration, lifting, holding and stillness.  This Resilient Edge of Resistance is the key to a wonderful sensual and erotic massage.  Breath is the vital “glue” that offers a deep experience to both the receiver and the giver.  The willingness to fully receive may be new to many, but here we embrace it as a gift to ourselves.  Giving means listening with ears and hands, responding to the receiver’s requests and taking them further into their experience. The Erotic Awakening Massage was developed by Barbara Carrellas within her Urban Tantra practice and is based on the work of Joseph Kramer, founder of Body Electric and Sexological Bodywork.

This workshop is a prerequisite to the Erotic Awakening Massage practice workshop.  Bring a comfortable surface to lie on, a sheet, and coverup if you need to.  This is a partnered, hands-on experience, so please bring a partner. (We’ll do our best to make it possible, but can’t guarantee, that singles will have the opportunity to apply and experience these techniques.)  Please be sure to arrive on time as latecomers will likely be observers only!

Sacred Whore Sensory Exploration with Dirty Mother - The Red Tent (Cabin OPQR)

This year we offer a treat for anyone who is interested in exploring Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) in a live setting with invoked Sacred Whores that will gentle guide you through an array spine tingling gentle sound and touch. Negotiation and Consent: Not just for Newbies! with FireOnWater & Papabear008 - Playspace

In the current social environment, negotiation and consent are much more heavily focused on than before. But do you know what negotiation and consent include? This class is for both people new to the scene and the more experienced kinkster. No matter your play style, negotiation and consent are at the core of the scene. Whether you need to brush up or learn for the first time, we invite you to join us as we discuss the importance of these two concepts.

Energy Orgasm 101: No Genital Touching Required with Dianna Lynn - Cabin ABCD

Want to heighten the ecstasy of sex?  To open yourself to a more powerful energetic experience?  Want to have powerful orgasms without even touching your genitals?  To orgasm more often – say, thirty times a session?  Your teacher, Dianna, can – and you can, too!

Learn how to orgasm more often and more powerfully by focusing your breath and your energy.  Even better, learn how to orgasm almost any time you want to – including fully clothed and without typical genital stimulation. How?  By breathing, thinking, pressing, nipping, pulling hair, restricting movement … almost anything!  You can find new erogenous zones, intensify sexual energy, and become more orgasmic. Already know how to orgasm this way?  Join us to teach what you know and practice new techniques.  Want to learn how?  Join us and begin an amazing journey into your own ecstatic realm.

In level 101, learn about the idea of energy orgasm.  Deepen your awareness of the movement of energy during sex.  Learn how to access, raise, and bank the fires of your sexual energy through breathwork.  Practice raising sexual energy and allowing the approach of ecstasy, then come back into a state of calm balance.

Both classes will include the presentation of information and opportunities for people to share their own wisdom, as well as demonstrations of different techniques and opportunities to do the work itself.  While they are linked, attending both classes is not a requirement for participation.

Bring a towel or blanket, and personal clean-up supplies.

This class is designed for individuals or partners.  Any number of partners may attend together.

What’s going on Friday Evening?

Freyja Blot with Scott Mohnkern - Ritual Field (7:30pm-8pm)

Love Ceremony: Embrace the Divine - Dawson Driver & Indigo Dawn - Cabin ABCD

Allow us to invite you into a series of partnered and group interactions that will celebrate the divine in you and in your fellow participants.  Beginning with ritually honoring one another, we will open up to emotional and physical intimacy.  This love ceremony will focus on connecting and nurturing touch, rather than on raising sexual energy.  All participants are always “at choice” to modify the interactions so that they are comfortable with them, or simply to witness.

Sexperiments with Dirty Mother and Stargazer - The Scarlet Den (Cabin OPQR, 9pm)

This year, Sexperiments will be a Friday night only exhibitionist’s extravaganza, hosted by Dirty Mother and Stargazer. We shall carry on the yearly tradition of our very own erotic dance club, featuring a top of the line rotating stripper pole. Everyone, of all genders, can experience what it is like to be a stripper and get your exhibitionist groove on. Or just come to enjoy the view, cheer on the dancers and explore the erotic movie lounge and public play space. It is hard to resist stopping by and taking in the positive and sexy vibes of Sexperiments. We encourage you to bring out your saucy garb and if you want to dance to your own erotic groove, bring your mp3’s to add to the playlist. We look forward to s-exposing you to our s-extreme s-expertise!

Fire Ritual: Reflect, Release, Ready for Rebirth with Fire Ritual Crew - Upper Fire Circle (9pm)

As we welcome the warm spirits climbing to hotter, your humble fire tender “O” will lead short and relatively steep guided meditation that will help shed what isn’t needed in order to embrace what is. This work is a rhythm. What we do tonight is an exhale, a frolic with your favorite old dress after cleaning the closet at Winters end. Tonight we are preparing for the joys of the maypole and all the juicy pleasures it may offer.  There will be time and space for drumming and dancing, spoken word and song.  Some lovers will meet and some will continue. Around your fire ALL is possible and ALL are welcomed.

Exploring Topping Hands-on with Sam Hartman - Playspace

Ever wanted to explore being a top or approach topping someone you've never worked with before?  Perhaps you'd just like to gain comfort exploring a stranger's body.  Perhaps you'd like to explore topping sensation play, flogging or spanking.  Perhaps you would like a bit of practice negotiating intent.  If these or similar activities interest you, bring respect; a flexible, open mind; and your eagerness.  Drop by any time during the workshop.  We'll provide demo bottoms, encouragement and a safe environment to explore.

Bizarre Discussions of Quantum Physics and Spirituality with Beth & Preston - Barn

What do we mean by bizarre discussions? What does that have to do with either quantum physics or spirituality? This is a “what if” discussion class. It is intended for sharing. For the geeks: yes, we will discuss science, especially quantum physics. But we will also stretch the possibilities that quantum physics offers. For the spiritualists and healers: we will look at some of the strange things you may have seen and experienced with the consideration of whether they fit into the quantum physics model or are, in some way, explained by quantum physics. The intent of the class is to gain a better understanding of our world from both a scientific and spiritual perspective, but also to look beyond that to possibilities, maybe even to the bizarre. Bring your knowledge, experiences, questions, and bizarre musings. Let’s see how far our world really stretches, or at least have fun playing with the concept. This is intended to be a fun class, a bit nerdy, a bit fanciful, and a lot speculative.

Nourishing Your Inner Submissive Without a Partner with Polyphonist - Cabin ABCD

This class is for those who want to nourish and explore their submission but may not have an active partner. A safe space will be facilitated to discuss practical ways of engaging with your submission, deepening understanding of what kinds of submissive experiences you seek, and exercising your submission to full strength. We will share personal experiences and tips and tricks.

Saturday 11am - 12noon

Non Binary Round Table with Lemaris - Red Tent (Cabin OPQR)

Intended as a free-flowing, safe space for folks whose identities do not comfortably fit into the established gender binary. A place to discuss divinity, spirituality, identity, sexuality, and anything else that comes up, as it applies to those of us who identify as any flavor of non-binary: androgynous, intergender, agender, neutrois, genderfluid, pangender, transgender…the exploration continues, and continues to expand. While this space is not intended as an educational tool for our friends who strongly identify with a binary gender, if you are drawn to this event, but worry you are ‘not genderqueer enough” (this is very common!), please do not hesitate to attend.

Saturday 1pm - 3pm

Healing & Hot Wax with Kate - Playspace

In the path of Ordeal, there are many ways to combine healing and physical experience. Join Kate as she leads a guided healing meditation using hot melted wax to use the body to release the mind to manifest Intent and connect to the Divine. Bring a towel or ground covering to go under a provided dropcloth, and something to use as a blindfold. Donations to offset the cost of supplies ($5 per person/$10 per couple) are requested, or you may choose to bring your own low-temperature candle/s if you wish; “7-day” glass-column novena candles from the Hispanic-foods section of your local grocery; you will want at least three candles. You may bring a partner/s or attend solo; solo attendees will be paired randomly (with consent) to the extent that even numbers are possible; partnerships of more than two people should be advised that the meditation will only be run twice, so that each partner may take a turn giving and receiving.  Please sign up on the sheet at HQ in advance, before 12noon on Saturday; attendance is strictly limited to ensure adequate room for all participants.

Kinky...with a Side of Mental Illness with Ode2Joy - Barn

In recent years, awareness of mental health has fortunately become more and more prevalent; for many however there is still some stigma attached to having a mental health diagnosis. In the kink scene, this can be especially dangerous, as it can affect negotiating, scenes, and aftercare, not to mention communication with people in general, and personal health! This activity-based class focuses on exercises to improve healthy functioning with a mental health diagnosis/issue in the kink scene. Ode2Joy will outline basic mental health information and how it can affect your kink, before delving into exercises that can be used to stave off panic attacks, reduce anxiety, and aid in trauma symptoms.

A Pagan Primer on Sacred Kink with Thista Minai - Cabin ABCD

What is kink, and how can it be sacred? How is sacred kink both similar to and different from sacred sex? How can sacred kink contribute to and enhance a Pagan lifestyle? We’ll examine potential answers to each of these questions in this Pagan’s introduction to sacred kink. This workshop will be equal parts class and discussion, so whether you’re ‘curious about’, ‘into’, or ‘live it 24/7’, come share your ideas and experiences. Join us to explore the beautifully diverse and magically empowering world of sacred kink.

Singing Through Sex with Christine Laplante - Cabin S&T

One of Christine's most popular and sought after classes, Singing Through Sex is both lecture and experiential.

The first part of this workshop is a lecture/discussion and will introduce concepts of mind and body orientation, oxygen and hydration, movement, vocal influence on the Vagus nerve, the enteric brain and serotonin production as well as how the voice can enhance sexual stimulation and emotional connection with self and others.

The second part of this workshop IS experiential.  While it is okay to passively participate, you will be encouraged to be present in a safe and sacred space in which to explore your voice and bodies as well as those of your partner(s).  Sensual and sexual touch will be encouraged. The result is a creation of beautiful harmonies with the energy of voice as well as body.

Come solo or partnered.  There is space for every body and every relationship configuration.  This is a hands-on, clothes off, solo or partnered, workshop and may elicit emotional, as well as physical, release.  Bring something to lie on and whatever else will make you physically comfortable.  Please bring lubricants, condoms and whatever other sexual enhancement items you are called to.

Erotic Awakening Massage: the practice with Lola - Back of Dining Hall

The Erotic Awakening Massage introduces you to an expanded orgasmic experience.  Using skills learned in the introductory workshop, Touch, breath, receiving & giving for the erotic awakening massage, we will dive deeply into a new kind of ecstasy.  Discover the power of orgasm through touch and breath. Learn how to give your partner an endless variety of erotic delight and still feel energized yourself.  Experience the wonder of completely receiving from your partner, and how clear communication creates deeper sharing. You will change the way you look at sex. The Erotic Awakening Massage was developed by Barbara Carrellas within her Urban Tantra practice and is based on the work of Joseph Kramer, founder of Body Electric and Sexological Bodywork.

It is strongly requested that you attend the introductory session, Touch, breath, receiving & giving for the Erotic Awakening Massage (Friday, 1pm, Cabin S&T) to get the most out of this workshop. Bring a comfortable surface to lie on, a sheet, and coverup if you need to, and your favorite vibrator (cordless is strongly preferred).  This is a partnered, hands-on experience, so please bring a partner. (We’ll do our best to make it possible, but can’t guarantee, that singles will have the opportunity to apply and experience these techniques.) Note that safety protocols are in place for this workshop and all are requested to adhere to these protocols.  If you plan to try the practice, please be sure to arrive on time as latecomers will be spectators.

All Women’s Red Tent Event: Sisters on a Journey with Dirty Mother - The Red Tent (Cabin OPQR)

We come together to blend our herstories, acknowledging we are part of a single organism, that which speaks from the womb creation. We will listen to our bodies, our hearts/minds and our divine source as we are guided to heal ourselves, heal each other, heal our community, and heal the world. Using the lineage of the Motherpeace Tarot, we will share collective truth and receive guidance to help us begin, continue or complete the path of becoming. Co-facilitated with Brynne, a midwife and healer with 30 years experience listening to women.

Fire Circle & Rhythmic Community Space with the Fire Ritual Crew - Upper Fire Circle

Snuggle Party - Michael Rios & Indigo Dawn - Cabin S&T

Together, we will open up a playground to explore consensual, platonic touch in community.  Nurturing touch has been shown to release compounds (i.e. oxytocin) which help lower blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels, and contribute to feelings of connection and emotional well-being. No one is required to touch another person in this workshop; you’re welcome to talk, cuddle, read a book, or observe– observation is full participation.

Memorial Gathering for Katalyste4Change with Gregg & Kenzie - Back of the Dining Hall

Katalyste passed away in January, her life and work meant a great deal to many of us. A creative rebel, she was neither contained by a single name, nor constrained by many of the conventions of our society. Regardless of the name you used or what your relationship was - please join us to share and record memories of her - both oral and written recordings can be made, as you prefer.

Saturday 4:30pm - 6:30pm

Inspiration Not Replication with BDSLR - Playspace

We have all seen beautiful photographs of rope work that inspires us to seek a similar look in our own ties and their photographic record.  Explore how to draw from visual inspirations for rope and lens without attempting perfect reproduction.  BDSLR will go through his standard pre-tie talk with Ode2Joy about using an inspirational photo and his thoughts of how to translate it into a rope photo. The ensuing conversation will then include discussion about body ties and uplines. They will then briefly execute it. The other participants can bring their own inspiration ideas, or peruse printouts BDSLR will have available, and go through the same process. BDSLR will be walking around and open to questions, suggestions, feasibility feedback, and offering alternatives when things inevitably don’t go perfect...which is the point. Every body is slightly different, so the search is for inspiration, not perfect replication.

Vicarious Joy: Harnessing the Energy of Compersion with Polyphonist - Playspace Side Room A

A class for non-monogamous people of all types, we will cover the basics of compersion, including what it is, how to overcome challenges you may encounter, and ways to harness and use the joyful energy that compersion can offer. Partnered and non-partnered are all welcome.

With feelings of competition, desire, unmet needs, and romantic attachment... relating with multiple partners can be a roller coaster ride.  In this workshop, we'll explore ways to create sustainable, harmonious polycule dynamics by creating a field of abundance, practicing non-attachment, and cultivating practices that help create joyful, loving polyamorous relationships!

Energy Orgasm 201: No Genital Touching Required with Dianna Lynn - Cabin ABCD

In level 201, we learn and practice several techniques that can bring you to full orgasmic ecstasy.  Use the power of imagination and memory.  Create a countdown crescendo.  Find bliss through breathwork.  Intensify your connection with a partner.  Revel in the sounds of ecstasy all around you.

Tantric Massage with Connect-om - Cabin S&T

What makes a massage Tantric? Two words: Presence and Intention. Well, and Connection. Okay, three words. And Consent, so four words. And Pleasure. Well, amongst the words… We will demonstrate (with nudity) and then let you practice! You don’t have to get naked, that’s up to you. Please bring a towel, a blanket, pillows, or other items to help make both the giver and receiver comfortable. This class is designed for anyone who is interested in massage, singles (willing to be partnered), partners, and more-somes all welcome.

Pleasing Your Partner: Joys of the Hands and Feet with Beth & Preston - Back of the Dining Hall

Nothing is quite as relaxing as a really good foot massage, unless it’s a really good hand massage. The reason is simple: the hands and feet are mirrors of each other and of the body as a whole. While people who love feet enjoy massaging them as much as their partners enjoy receiving, not everyone likes to have their feet touched or likes touching feet. And even if feet are your thing, they are not always so easily accessible. Hands can be the perfect alternative, both therapeutically and sensually. As always, Beth and Preston marry his love of feet with her knowledge and skill at massage, plus the little known secret that she loves hands. The twist in this class is that you get to choose hands or feet. We’ll start right out with participation and incorporate techniques, comparisons and a bit of worship in this sensual touch workshop.

You’ll leave the class with:

- A full outline of strokes and techniques for giving a great hand or foot massage

- Precautions to keep your massage safe and when foot or hand massage is not

advised

- Tips on how to incorporate more sensual strokes or even some foot or hand worship

- The relaxation from having given and/or received a good foot or hand massage

Bring your favorite lotion, borrow one of ours, or practice massaging without oil. Discover the sensuality that can be complete relaxation for some while taking others into the depths of orgasm and bring sheer pleasure to both partners.

What’s going on Saturday Evening?

Let’s Do This! A Vegas-style Sacred Self-Marriage Ceremony - 9pm, Scarlet Den (Cabin OPQR)

Picture it: you’re on your dream vacation in Sin City. By your side: the one you know will never leave you. An all-night chapel’s neon lights blink invitingly in the distance. Suddenly, you know what you need to do, to declare your love before the rest of the world! Except that Vegas is Ramblewood, and your one and only is…YOU! Main Ritual: Kindling the Kindred Spirit - 8pm, Ritual Field

Followed by…

Fire Ritual: Spark to Flame to Sky with the Fire Ritual Crew - 9pm, Upper Fire Circle

Join the dancing procession of the Main Ritual as the spark (ACTIVE), coming from the Maypole, to continue the juiciness of the Serpent approaching the Womb Space.  Or, stand with the fire crew at the Yoni Gate (RECEPTIVE) in the Upper Fire Circle to welcome and receive the Serpent’s spark as the procession approaches.  The choice is yours.  Either way conjoined they bring blessedness.   All Acts of Love and Pleasure are Her Ritual.

Christine Laplante, LMHC has been teaching, writing and working with individual and groups for almost two decades around the topics of sex, relationships, stress-reduction and mind/body integration from a humanistic and trauma-informed perspective. She recently published her book: Sacred, Not Secret: An Integrated Approach to Sexual (R)Evolution. She has a degree in Counseling as well as Music Therapy and often utilizes Music Medicine in her work.

About Sacred, Not Secret: An Integrated Approach to Sexual (R)Evolution

No amount of talking about sex is going to diminish the mystery of the experience of it.  In Sacred, Not Secret, Christine delves into two systems of human development: Eastern (Chakra) and Western (psychological/developmental) theories.   Discussing the non-linear, and cyclical, nature of development, as well as our potential systematic traumas during those phases, this book provides exercises and stories that open a dialogue to exploring our sexual, sensual, emotional and energetic health.  Written from an authentic, integrated and human perspective this book is easy to read, yet encourages you to dive deeply into your own perceptions about sexual and developmental health.

Dvora and Paul have founded Connect-om: The Art and Science of Tantric Life. Dancing together for over 30 years. “We promised to grow together from the beginning. So far, we’re succeeding by being willing to ask "what if", and allowing the answers to show us who we might become. Scientists by nature, we embrace both the Western scientific need for objective reproducible results and the Eastern approach which accepts that subjective experience is a valid observation.  We’ve been studying Tantra for 10 years with multiple teachers across various styles. Dvora received Tantra teacher certification in 2016, and we have been teaching together ever since. We call our teaching Combo-Tantra. Our teachers range from academic Sanskrit scholars, to Tantric meditation and Tantra Yoga handed down through teaching lineage, to neo-Tantra. Our teaching incorporates all these perspectives as a single, integrated framework. As Connect-om we want to share what we have learned so far – with an emphasis on presence, awareness, connection, and of course, communication.”

Every Ritual, Great and Small!

Part of Beltane’s magic is the many ways that the sacred is expressed in ritual experiences throughout the gathering. Here’s a master list of all the public rituals scheduled for this year, in chronological order.  As always, we recommend reading their descriptions in full!

Opening Ritual: Building the Container - Thursday, 3:15pm - 4:30pm, Meet at Parking Field

Welcome Fire with Ritual Fire Crew - Thursday, 9pm, Upper Fire Circle

A great place to meet new friends, catch up with old ones and get a good idea of what will be happening around the fire for the weekend.  Please join us to open our hearts and the fire circle.

Freyja Blot with Scott Mohnkern - Friday, 7:30-8pm, Ritual Field

Come and celebrate the blessings of Freya at a traditional northern european ritual, the blot!  A blot is a ritual where we all will have the opportunity to thank the lady Freyja for her blessings by offering a sacrifice through a round of toasts using mead.  Be prepared to make a brief toast to her, as we pass the horn around, sharing our thanks for her gifts.

Cleansing With Blood and Fire with Thista Minai - Friday, 8pm, Barn

What are you ready to be free from? What do you need to let go? In this ritual we will let our blood carry our burdens away to be cleansed in flame. Each participant will choose their own method and location for acquiring blood, with options ranging from a standard lancet to an 18 gauge needle. Set your intent, shed your blood, and purify that energy in a sacred fire.

Love Ceremony: Embrace the Divine - Dawson Driver & Indigo Dawn - Friday, 8pm, Cabin ABCD

Fire Ritual: Reflect, Release, Ready for Rebirth with Fire Ritual Crew - Friday, 9pm, Upper Fire Circle (9pm)

Healing & Hot Wax with Kate - Saturday, 1pm-3pm, Playspace

Driving Towards Ecstasy with Kate - Saturday, 8pm - 9:30pm

The classic returns! A combination of guided meditation towards ecstatic cathartic release and hard-rockin’ sexy music are the foundation for this Dungeon-based ritual. Ritual briefing will begin promptly; please arrive on time with impact toys (and a playmate) in hand, prepared to plunge into this shared journey, which Kate will guide. Experience with both Scene activities and energy work is a plus! Join other Players to build energy together and work towards an ecstatic release while enjoying a selection of rhythmic music. If you’re not with a partner but wish to contribute to the energy-raising, you are welcome to follow along within the guidelines set during the ritual briefing.  Please note: space for this experience is limited.  There will be a sign-up sheet at HQ until 6:30pm Saturday.  Pairs who sign up ahead of time secure a piece of furniture, and we cannot guarantee spaces will be available for walk-in partners.

Let’s Do This! A Vegas-style Sacred Self-Marriage Ceremony - Saturday, 9pm, Scarlet Den (Cabin OPQR)

Join us for a mirthful self-marriage ceremony, Vegas-style, with fake flowers, an Elvis-impersonator officiant, and a warm heart at its center. What happens here, doesn’t have to stay here.

Closing Ritual: Open But Unbroken - Sunday, 10:30 - 11:30am, Ritual Field

We will open our circle and thank the gods and spirits for their aid in our rites and go out into the world taking what we’ve learned and done with us.
