Buckeye Game Fest 2025 Volunteer Information
Volunteer Requirements
Each volunteer must-
- Work the required number of shifts outlined below
- Watch a short training presentation and complete a quiz
- There are several differences between Origins and BGF procedures
Shift requirements:
- 2025 CABS members must work one shift of 3 hours
- Non-CABS members must work two shifts of 3 hours
Anyone may add on a War Room Ribbon for 1 additional shift!
Work extra shifts to receive 10 raffle tickets per additional shift!
Volunteer Benefits
Each volunteer will receive-
- A full show Volunteer Badge
- A volunteer T-shirt
- 5 raffle tickets
- 2 games from the Rio Grande game giveaway
- Friday night pizza party
- Saturday afternoon lunch
- Access to the volunteer lounge in the show office
- Access to the volunteer storage area in the show office*
* Items MUST be stored in the designated volunteer storage area. The office is ONLY accessible during registration hours. Items may be moved by BGF staff if needed.
BGF Volunteer Policy
- Buckeye Game Fest (BGF) is central Ohio’s premier board gaming convention run entirely by volunteers, including the BGF Board. BGF and its volunteers are committed to providing a fun, efficient, and family-friendly board gaming experience either at BGF or through the Origins Game Fair & BGF Library.
- Volunteer roles for the cons can include registration, library, movers, and raffle assistants, or other roles as designated by the BGF Board.
- All BGF volunteers are obligated to help provide a safe and welcoming environment to all attendees.
- All BGF volunteers will adhere to the following requirements:
- Affirm they have not been convicted of any of the offenses listed below
- Affirm they will follow the BGF Code of Conduct
- Affirm they will complete volunteer training and fulfill the requirements of the job
- Affirm they will grant BGF permission to conduct a background check
- Failure to affirm 4a-d, or being found to have provided false information to BGF may preclude that individual from volunteering for BGF.
Volunteer Roles
We have the following volunteer positions available:
- Library
- Registration
- Raffle Assistant
- Set up/Tear down
- Mover
All volunteer shifts (except library shifts) need to be approved by the BGF Volunteer Committee.
Library (Ages 16+)
Primary duties consist of:
- Monitor library door (no bags in the library)
- Assist guests with game selection
- Check games in and out
- Regular library and “Play to Win”
- Reshelve games and straightening cabinets
- Conduct triage on games returned with issues
Registration (Age 18+):
Primary duties consist of:
- Greeting attendees/guests/vendors
- Check-in pre-registered attendees
- On-site registration
- Sell Raffle tickets
- Handle financial transactions
- First point of contact for attendee questions
This role is ideal for someone who has good customer service skills, able to work professionally and calmly, and feels comfortable handling money and completing financial transactions.
Raffle Assistance (Age 18+):
Primary duties consist of:
- Aid in ticket sales around the gaming hall before the raffle closes
- Moving raffle items to the show office for the final drawing
- Assist in prize labeling and prize pickup from the show office
Mover (Age 18+):
Primary duties consist of:
- Loading the library at Coffee Underground, then unloading the library at the Hyatt on Wednesday evening
- Loading the library at the Hyatt, then unloading the library at Coffee Underground on Sunday afternoon
We are looking for Lead Volunteers
Age 18+ with previous BGF volunteer experience
Primary duties would consist of:
- Manage Registration/Library Volunteers
- Fill in at Registration/Library for breaks and during heavy traffic times
- 1st level of dispute resolution with attendees and volunteers
- Escalate to BGF Board members as needed
Leads will be required to work 2 shifts of 4 hours. Additional compensation is available for leads. Please contact us if you are interested.
