Library Report
To Town Council
1. Services to the Public: The CERT training is postponed. We needed 10 for a training, we only had 4 that had completed the online portion of the training. The tribe will lose funding for this project August 30. We could still make this happen if we can get 10 people through the online portion of the training. McKennah and I talked about offering a group online training at the library sometime this summer. I will start a signup sheet and pick a date, if there are citizens interested. We take a break from programs for the summer, except knitting 1pm on Fridays and book discussion group the second Thursday of the month. The book discussion group will discuss Culpability by Bruce Holsinger Thursday June 11, 2026. The library has received an AED from The Trust. It was installed May 28, 2026. Staff was supposed to train June 1, 2026 but the instructor got sick, so the box will remain empty until staff training has happened.
2. Collections: We received a $1000 grant from Town Pump Charitable Foundation again this year. We pay for Books in Search of Kids with the funds. We will be gearing up to be at the Farmers Market starting June 20.
3. Technology: Nothing new to report.
4. General Administrative Business: The library will be closed Saturday June 13, 2026 for Homesteaders and carpet cleaning. The library board will spend the summer doing in depth study and revision discussions of the library’s Policy. June 17 the board will be going over pages 1 through 6, July 15 the board will be going over pages 7 through 9, and August 19 the board will go over pages 9 through 18. They will approve the final draft at the September board meeting. The library’s Policy is available on the library website prestonhotspringslibrary.org on the Library Trustee Page.
The library board will meet at the library Wednesday June 17, 2026 at 5pm for their monthly meeting.
