Minds that Work Differently: Strengthening Executive Function

Virtual parent workshop presented by The Anderson Center.  The workshop will focus on how parents can support and improve executive functioning skills for their children.  Executive functioning is a set of mental skills that help a person plan, focus, remember instruction and manage tasks.  Simple supports and strategies for developing executive function skills will be shared.  Parents and caregivers will gain an understanding of what executive functioning is and its importance in everyday life.

Screenagers: School Aged Edition

This insightful film explores the impact of screen time on school-aged students, addressing concerns that parents, educators, and students face, such as exposure to smartwatches, video gaming, and the pressures of social media. After the screening, we will host a panel with Nanuet School Social Workers and our Instructional Technology Facilitator, who will be available to answer your questions and discuss the film's key themes. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn more and engage in a meaningful conversation about managing screen time in today’s world. We hope to see you there!

WIC: Nutrition Assistance Program for Women, Infants and Children-WIC is a federal program for participants who qualify based on financial and medical or nutritional need. This program serves women who are pregnant, mothers of babies up to six months old, breastfeeding mothers of children up to 12 months old, and children under the age of five. Checks are issued to purchase supplemental nutritious foods, such as milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, juice, fruits, and vegetables. Fruit and vegetable checks are also accepted at some local farmers’ markets. Breastfeeding education and support is provided by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. Registered dietitians, nutritionists and breastfeeding peer counselors are also on staff. WIC sites in Rockland are located in Spring Valley, Monsey, New Square, Haverstraw, and Nyack.
