Example:-Name of Speaker

For the Angel’s Speaker:

You have been the listener’s guardian angel for all of their life. They have been going through a difficult experience, so you decide that it’s finally time to reveal yourself and speak with them directly. The only problem is that their guardian demon also showed up. Their ideas are selfish and lazy. You try to stay calm, but you get progressively more angry as the conversation goes on. You cannot let them influence the listener. Ultimately, you want what’s best for them, no matter what.

For the Demon’s Speaker:

You have been the listener’s guardian demon for all of their life. They have been going through a difficult experience, so you decide that it’s finally time to reveal yourself and speak with them directly. Unfortunately their guardian angel showed up first. Their ideas are too reliant on other people being nice, which will never happen. You try to keep your cool, but you get progressively more angry as the conversation goes on. You cannot let them influence the listener. Ultimately, you want what’s best for them, no matter what.

Listener’s Summary:

Life has been beating you down for a long time. You lay down in your bed, wondering when the pain will end, when a glowing figure somehow appears in front of you. They are your guardian angel, and they want to help. Another figure appears in flames claiming to be your guardian demon, and they want to help too. These two don’t seem like they get along very well…

Script:

Angel[A]: *magically appearing* Excuse me? Human? Can you hear me?

Hello there, young one. You don’t know me, but I’ve known you for a long time. My name is Inti [in-tee], and I am your guardian angel.

Yes, I speak the truth. It really is me. And I must say, it is very nice to see you in person, sunshine.

Well, I’m here because life has been really hard for you lately. I know, I’ve seen it all happen. And I am so, so sorry that you are going through this rough time. But I just wanted to let you know that it’s ok to ask for help. Some people may see it as being weak, but I promise you, asking for help is the strongest thing any person can do.

I know that it’s scary to reach out, but you are brave.

Even if you are scared, bravery isn’t a lack of fear. It is the ability to stand strong in the face of that fear. I want to see you use that bravery of yours to reach out to someone.

Demon[D]: *appearing through flame* Don’t listen to what this feather duster has to say. Other people ain’t gonna solve your problems for ya. What you’ve gotta do is take time for yourself.

A: (irritated) Excuse me? My little sunshine was in the middle of a delightful conversation with me. Now, kindly move along please.

D: That ain’t happening. I ain’t gonna let your ideas influence sparky over here.

A: [to listener] Oh, [them/him/her]? That’s-[interrupted by Vanhi]

D: [to listener] The name’s Vanhi [vah-nee]. I’m your guardian demon. And before you ask, yes. Everyone does have a guardian demon. (irritated) It just so happens that duck lips over there comes from propaganda paradise, and they love to make us out to be monsters.

A: [to Vanhi] Ok. First of all, ducks don’t have lips. They have bills. Secondly, that was very rude. And thirdly, we do not make propaganda in Heaven, we just want to warn the humans of your evil ideas!

D: [to Inti] (sarcastic) Oh, my horrible, evil ideas! Horrible ideas like putting yourself first and believing in your own abilities! How terrible!

A: Yes, they are terrible. Now kindly leave me and my sunshine be.

D: As I said, ain’t happening. [to listener] Listen here, sparky. Life’s got ya in a real tough spot right now, so I want you to take a break. Just a day or two so you can really focus on yourself. Do something fun or relax at home, whatever will make ya feel a little better.

A: That won’t help them! All that will do is encourage slothful and selfish behavior! We can’t have sunshine doing things like that.

D: [to Inti] Self care ain’t selfish, bird brain. And there is a very stark difference between being lazy and taking a break. Everyone needs breaks. How else will we have the energy to take on life’s challenges? Besides, I’m sure the big man gives you coffee breaks during your “holy duties.”

A: Actually, I have tea breaks. A cup of jasmine flower tea with a little biscuit slathered in honey. [to listener] It’s really good, sunshine. You should try it sometime.

D: (frustrated) The point is that you can’t keep chugging along forever. You gotta make pitstops every once and a while otherwise ya ain’t gonna be able to keep going.

A: (frustrated) [to Vanhi] Well…fine! But what are they supposed to do after they take a break? Hm!?

D: After the break they can tackle the problem. Easy as that.

A: No. That won’t work! They need to reach out to the people around them. Others will help them get back on their feet again.

D: Last I checked, people can pick themselves up just fine. They don’t need to wait for others to come and save them.

A: I’m not saying that they need others to save them, but having friends and family to cheer you on really helps.

D: Oh, so you just want them to hire a personal cheer squad to follow them around wherever they go?

A: Yes! Wait, no. They don’t need actual cheerleaders following them, although that might not be a bad idea…Uh, what I was trying to say is that having a support system can make getting through life’s challenges a lot easier.

D: People are selfish. Always have been, always will be. [to listener] It’s best to get used to doing things on your own because, as much as I hate to say it, nobody will be with you forever, sparky.

A: That’s why it is important to be nice to others. Not only will they feel good, but you can have more friends to keep you feeling good, even when old friends decide to travel a different path. [to listener] Sunshine, even if people in your life come and go, there is nothing better than having a friend to help you along the way.

D: [to Inti] And what about the people without friends, huh? What are they supposed to do? Wander the streets until someone decides to be nice?

A: [to Vanhi] There are support groups and therapists for people like that. Even people with friends can go to these places. Plus, with the internet, there are lots of forums where you can vent your frustrations and have kind people help you out.

D: *groan* I can’t believe angels try to peddle this crap as advice. Take that halo and shove it, chicken wings!

A: (offended) Wh-what? I cannot believe you would be so vulgar! I only wanted to remind my sunshine that there are people out there willing to help.

D: Fine. Let’s suppose that is true. Then what? They ain’t gonna fix sparky’s problems. If anything they could cause drama and make even more issues. [to listener] With or without friends to back you up, it’s ultimately up to you to take the lead. I believe in you, sparky.

A: I suppose that…sometimes…they need to do things themselves. But that doesn’t mean they have to do that every time. Sunshine can take on challenges with their friends, as a group!

D: [to Inti] Do you need to be a contrarian every time I say something!? Because I am getting real sick and tired of your bickering. Now shut your mouth before I use your feathers in my next pillow!

A: (offended) H-how dare you threaten me! You are such a meanie!

D: (mumbling to self) For the love of Satan… [to Inti] Cupid, is your diaper full? I can’t think of any other reason to explain all this whining!

A: *gasp* Well…well…(angry) you’re not invited to my birthday party! Hmph!

D: (sarcastic) Ouch. That hurt.

A: (regretful) You’re right, that was too far. I’m sorry. My birthday is on the eighteenth. There will be angel food cake, strawberry ice cream, and-[interrupted by Vahni]

D: I don’t care about your stupid party! I just want to make sure that sparky will be ok.

A: (angry) Well, sunshine doesn’t need your advice.

D: Fine! I’ll leave sparky alone. But before I go, let me ask you a question, ugly duckling.

A: (angry) Please make it quick. I can’t keep sunshine waiting.

D:  Are those wings made out of tail feathers? Because you’ve sure been talking a lot of crap this whole time!

A: I am not talking doo doo! So horn…horns…goat horns! Why don’t you…go and..ch-chew on a…a…can. A tin can! Or…something!

D: (sarcastic) Wow. Must’ve used all three brain cells to come up with that sick burn. Too bad I’m fireproof, ain’t it? I thought angels were supposed to be sinless, holy creatures. I can’t believe you would hurl such a vile insult in front of sparky.

A: (angry) Their name is sunshine.

D: Sparky.

A: Sunshine.

D: Sparky!

A: Sunshine!

D: (yelling) Sparky!

A: (yelling) Sunshine!

A: (calmer) [to listener] Oh! Oh I’m sorry, sunshine. I didn’t mean to get so heated in front of you.

D: (calmer) [to listener] Yeah. Even I’ve gotta admit that I went too far. Sorry, sparky.

A: I promise that we won’t fight in front of you again. [to Vahni] Right, Vahni?

D: [to Inti] Right. [to listener] It’s just that…we both care about you.

A: [to listener] A lot.

D: And we just wanna see you happy. Even if…some of us have better ideas than others.

A: *clearing throat loudly*

D: Even if…some of us have…different ways of going about it.

A: [to Vanhi] Thank you. [to listener] Sunshine, can we try this again? But with the both of us this time. Working together.

D: And I want you to take the lead. You decide which way is best for you.

A: But don’t forget that we’re here to help you along the way. If you have any questions or want any advice, we will help. Just in a more…civilized manner.

D: Yeah. We’ll put our differences aside for this one.

(surprised) You want us to apologize to each other? I…*sigh*

A: [to Vahni] I’m sorry, Vanhi.

D: [to Inti] I…I’m sorry too.

A: [to listener] Now…sparky, let’s have this conversation again. Remember, we are here to support you. And there are so many others out there that love you and want to help.

D: [to listener] But don’t forget that it’s important to look out for yourself too. And that you are capable of dealing with whatever life throws at ya, sunshine.
