Terms and conditions –

  1. Artists must create work that ultimately will be experienced physically “in real life” form and that do not require heavy machinery or excessive space to create.
  2. Examples of disciplines that will be considered: Painting, Collage, Drawing & Print, Textiles, Photography, Digital Art (that can be printed)
  3. Examples of disciplines that will not be considered: large 3D sculptures, ceramics, pottery
  4. Each artist confirms that they are over the age of 18
  5. Each artist confirms that they have no prior or existing criminal convictions
  6. Each artist commits to living and creating art in the Mason & Fifth space for the full 2 month residency period.
  7. Travel costs will not be covered.
  8. If an artist requires a visa to be part of the residency this will be the responsibility of the artist to obtain
  9. Each artist agrees to provide one piece of art that lives on in Mason & Fifth’s Westbourne Park building (hanging on the walls).
  10. All selected artists’ consent to Dazed and Mason & Fifth documenting the residency, through videography, photography, interviews and bi-weekly content sessions.
  11. All artist will be featured in editorial & photographic coverage on Dazed Digital as well as Dazed & Mason & Fifth’s social channels
  12. Artists agree to leave the studio and workshop spaces as clean as they found them and will be responsible for any damage caused.
  13. Artists agree to only create work, specifically messy work, within their dedicated workshop studio and not their living space.
  14. Artists may have friends over to their en-suite studio, but it is limited to 2 people (the artist +1) to stay over in the studio.
  15. Each artist will be provided their own living space which will include a bed, table, TV, kitchenette and private en-suite bathroom, all rooms will overlook the canal.
  16. Each artist will also be provided a workshop studio space to create work in which will be situated in Mason & Fifths Meadow studio, there are 2 studios, so there will be 4 artists in each workspace, each can choose an area within this to dedicate themselves to.
  17. During their stay they will have full access to The Grounding (pool, gym, sauna, steam) and the events programme, and they can make use of all the shared living spaces – the guest lounges, listening lounge, cinema room, large tenth floor shared kitchen and dining room – as well as the restaurant Canal.
  18. The cost of food & drink is not included.
  19. The exception to this will be the free group dinner on their first night and within Meadow, the workshop space, there are kitchens with free tea and coffee, fruit and snacks, plus a weekly free community lunch.
  20. Alongside this, Meadow will provide the artists free access to a high spec printer, wash-out area, meeting room, phone booths, lockers, bike store and cycle workshop.
  21. Materials and equipment outside of the above listed will not be covered.
  22. The Meadow workspace will be open 8am-10pm Monday-Sunday.
  23. Artist’s may not bring external people into the workshop without an additional day pass.
  24. To mark the end of the partnership, artists will take part in an exhibition showcasing all of the Dazed Club residents' work. This will be held within Mason & Fifth’s Westbourne Park building.
  25. The cost of hanging and a technician to hang the pieces will be covered, however any additional framing or installation costs will not be covered and will be the responsibility of the individual artist.
  26. The exhibition will host a private view opening event, organised by Dazed.
  27. The artists will be given the opportunity to sell their work during the exhibition run (outside of the donated piece), should they wish to.
  28. Mason & Fifth & Dazed hold the right to remove any artist from the residency whose behaviour breaks any of the terms & conditions or is deemed inappropriate
