FLORIDA ELITE 5V5 LEAGUE RULES – 2022-23

(FIFA RULES APPLY IF NOT MODIFIED WITHIN)

TEAM REGISTRATION: Volunteer Coaches will register their teams via the Tournament page. The coach will pay for the team entry fee and register their team. The coach will then send out player invites to the players on their team. The players will choose to accept the team position and register by submitting the required waivers. There is no payment by the players at this point. Coaches can collect payment for the event from the players directly.

ROSTERS: 7 player roster size. The oldest player must be the age that your team is registered. Players are allowed to play on two different teams, as long as the teams are not competing in the same division

GENDER: No males will be allowed to participate in any female divisions. Females CAN play in male divisions.

WAIVERS: CLICK HERE and have your players bring a signed copy to your first game. You do not have to turn these into us, but keep them with you during the league event. (Every Player must have a completed form with them at the game to play)

NUMBER OF GAMES: Each team will be scheduled for 2 games per night.

PLAYERS AND SUBSTITUTIONS: SEVEN is the maximum number of players on a team; FOUR players and one Goalkeeper on the field at all times. The use of an improperly registered player will result in a forfeit of the game. Players may ONLY play on 1 team per tournament/league event.

Substitutes may occur at any dead ball situation, but players must be called onto the field by the referee and enter and exit at the half-field mark only.  Players must already be at the half-field mark when a dead ball situation first occurs to be called on. Repeated substitutions in an attempt to waste time may not be approved by the referee.

EQUIPMENT: All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. Teams are responsible for providing game balls.

Preferred Ball Size for U8-U10: Size 3, U11-U12: Size 4, U13 and older: Size 5. In the event that age divisions are combined, the teams should use the older division’s ball size.

FIELD & GOAL DIMENSIONS: Field: Width: 30 yards, Length: 40 yards. 7 yard semicircle around goalmouth. Goals: 8’ x 4’

MATCH START AND DURATION: Teams must be ready to kick off at game-time or forfeit the game. Minimum # of players to start is 3. Games will start when the minimum # of players has been met, failure to do so or

delay, will result in a forfeit. Duration of play will be two-12 minute halves with

1-minute halftime – OR the game shall end when a team reaches a 10-goal differential. Pool games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie. The Home team will Kick Off to Start the match. The Away/Visitor team will determine which end of the field to defend first.

NO OFFSIDES IN 5v5 SOCCER AND NO SLIDE TACKLING OR HEADING IN 5V5 SOCCER

KICK-INS: The ball shall be kicked in to play from the sideline instead of thrown in.

DIRECT/INDIRECT KICKS: Physical fouls will result in direct free kicks. Players on the defending team must remain a minimum of 5 yards from the kick. All other dead ball kicks (kick-ins, free kicks, kick-offs) are indirect except corner and penalty kicks. In all dead ball situations, defending players must stand five yards away from the ball.

GOAL KICKS: Any time a Goal Kick is required, the goalkeeper will execute a Goal Clearance (ball must leave the Penalty Arc).

KICK OFF: May be taken in any direction.

PENALTY KICKS: Penalty Kicks will be taken from the top of the arch or 7 yards from the goal.

GOALKEEPING: During the run of play when the ball is in the hands of the goalkeeper, it may be thrown

anywhere or dropped and dribbled inside or outside the penalty area, but cannot be drop-kicked or

punted. A Goalkeeper may not throw the ball directly into an opponent's goal. Players may

not initiate contact with the goalkeeper at any time while they are in the Penalty Arc. A goalkeeper outside the Penalty Arc is to be treated as a field player.

GOAL SCORING: A goal may be scored from anywhere on the playing field.

SCORING (IN POOL PLAY): 3 points for a win; 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.

TIEBREAKERS: In pool play, ties between two or more teams will be broken by:

1) head-to-head results between tied teams (2 teams only)

2) goal difference in pool play

3) fewest goals against in pool play

4) goals scored

If teams are still tied after all tiebreakers, the system will automatically break the tie by a system generated coin flip.

SPORTSMANSHIP: Players, coaches and spectators are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times. Abuse of the referees will not be tolerated. Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event.

PLAYER/BENCH PERSONNEL  EJECTION (YELLOW/RED CARD): Referees have the right to dismiss a player OR bench personnel from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending off. RED CARD suspension = Rest of game PLUS next game. The Tournament Director may dismiss player or bench personnel for the rest of the tournament (Teams will still play with 5 on the field).

A team official guilty of misconduct will be shown a YC (caution) or RC (sending off)*; if the offender cannot be identified, the senior coach who is in the technical area at the time will receive the YC/RC.

FORFEITS: A forfeit shall be scored as 5-0.

DIVISIONS/FLIGHTS:  if a Division or Flight does not have enough teams to create a proper schedule, you will be offered the ability to play in a different division/flight if a spot is available.

SITUATIONS THAT THESE RULES DO NOT ADDRESS ARE THE DECISION OF THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR.
