myON: How to Find Nonfiction Books

Using myON - Finding Nonfiction books

1. Go to the Renaissance Learning page

Click on I’m a Student

If you want to use an ipad for myON - you can find your pin at the button next to the Exit Sign

2. Log in with your username and password

Username: dmoran

  • Your first letter of your first name
  • Your last name

Password: initials a minus sign and lunch code

  • dm-12345

3. Click on the purple box for myON

4. ** Click SAVE to Save this Step for Later

You can set your interests to whatever you would like, including languages.  

This is on a 5 point scale of what you really love to what you really do not like at all

Click Save

5. This is where you can see all of your information, and even see your recommended books.

6. Click on Library at the top of the screen

7. Click on the little blue button (it looks like an arrow with shapes on top of it) on the top left.

This is where you can Filter for what you are looking for

Once you click on your choice, it will turn black

8. Now that you have picked NONFICTION, you can search each category for a book

9. Once you pick on a category within that category, you can pick a book

10. When you find a book that you may want to read, you can:

  • Read the book
  • Take a sneak peek and read the info
  • Add to myList

11. Once you choose to read the book, click Start.

You have a few choices as you read:

  • Dictionary - to look up a word
  • Tools (highlight, circle, draw arrows, erase)
  • Journal - to use as sticky notes
  • Click on the Play button (on the bottom of the book) to have the words read aloud
