Updates on AWE Playground/Water Filling Stations/Other Projects Prin. Westmoreland
- Playground Updates- Rep to follow up this week. Still anticipated for the end of February.
- Water bottle filling stations- Callie talked to someone in maintenance. There’s information indicating the water stations have lead concerns. In considering filtered vs non-filtered, non-filtered is much cheaper but we would be required to do filtered. This is currently on hold.
- Picnic Tables(100 year gift)- Expected Arrival in early February. Balance ($5199.26) to be paid upon receipt of invoice. 6' Picnic Table - Breezesta
- Summer Projects- The road will be built behind AWE. Vestibule being added; reworking the front entry. Huge modular from South Mebane being added (3 classrooms and a bathroom).
- Dr Thorp retiring
- Ellison(school guidance counselor) has taken on the treat/kindness trolly. PTO supplying $50/month. *TASK?* Callie- Can do a signup genius for February if needed.

- Callie will need help logging and passing out prizes. May assign nights.
*TASK* Callie- create QR code for the flyer. Ashley will include the link with the dress up reminders. *TASK* Griffin?- Order prizes from Amazon. No prizes left from last year. Prize amount ordered last year was perfect.
*TASK* Ashley- will let Callie know school wide prizes. Decide on a big goal prize besides Spring dance (doesn’t make sense time wise because of the 100 year event and non-school days). Inflatables mentioned though they will also be at the 100 year event.
Spirit Night Roll’A’Bout Skating Rink Griffin McClure
We are on the schedule Thursday, February 21st. 6-8PM Small community fundraiser.
Other Spring Spirit Nights Callie Kontoulas
McDonalds fundraiser suggested for April after Spring Break.
*TASK* Callie to reach out to secure either Thursday April 20th or 27th.
Conflict of Interest Griffin McClure
Katherine has an incomplete draft of the COI agreement and a statement suggested as an addition to the Bylaws. Griffin pointed out some of the Bylaws definitions will need updates in order for “officer” “Board of Directors” “members” and other such language to make sense.
*TASK* Katherine and Griffin will get together to go over COI agreement and bylaws in the next couple of months.
Staff Appreciation Week Date Griffin McClure
Dates decided: May 8th-12th, Staff Appreciation Week
Other Business:
- Amazon Smile- The login information to make purchases as Alexander Wilson PTO and the link to add Alexander Wilson as your Amazon Smile charitable organization can be found in the following Google Doc. Please note you must have access to the AWE PTO gmail account in order to open the document.
*TASK COMPLETED* Check to see if we can tell how many people are signed up with the AWE PTO Amazon Smile account. Currently there are 10 people signed up. Also read that payments aren’t deposited until 45 days after the end of a fiscal quarter.
- Callie- Christmas cheer was successful. 2 additional kids covered week of. Even had left over gift cards to give Ms. Jenkins for spring to help supply things as needed (extra underwear).
- Christmas Luncheon was a success. Having it on a Monday worked a lot better with managing and enjoying leftovers.
- Room Parents/Grade Level Representatives- Grade level representatives are more likely to stick with the group of kids throughout school. Representatives would help coordinate volunteer efforts and connect parents to teacher needs. Suggested that parents could sign up for campus clean up and choose their own sections during the school day or afternoon.
- No parents that showed interest joined during today’s mtg. Planning to reach out parents again to see if there is interest. Ashley suggested having an interest form available at the Awards program on the 10th. Also mentioned Jessica Reyes when asked if there were any parents she thought would be interested.
Plan to have another mtg before Read-a-thon.
