What is the difference between Recruitment and Selection?

Recruitment is a process where you invite the potential candidates who are suitable for the job.

Selection is a process where you select the most appropriate person for the job.

What are the ways you source a profile?

INTERNAL SOURCING : Employee referrals, Internal Job Transfer(IJT) / Job bidding, Promotions, Transfers.

EXTERNAL SOURCING : Job Portals, Consultancy, Advertisements, Colleges and Universities, Social Media

How do you do a background verification?

  1. Calling to the references given in the resume.
  2. Telephonic enquiry to the previous organizations.
  3. Email enquiry.
  4. Through Agencies.

When it becomes mandatory to have a PF and ESI account?

When the employee head count reaches 10, it is mandatory for the company to register for ESI and when it reaches 20, it is mandatory to register for PF.

What is an UAN number?

UAN (Universal account number) is a unique number allotted by Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) to every employee contributing to PF.

All different PF accounts created for an employee by different employers will get linked to this unique UAN which is portable across companies.

Can an employee have more than one UAN?

No.

What is an organizational structure?

Organizational structure determines how the roles, power and responsibilities are assigned, controlled, and coordinated, and how information flows between the different levels of management.

What is a policy?

The role of policy is to provide guidance to organisation personnel on how to carry out their duties so that there is consistency in their actions.

How do you solve an employee Grievance?

Through HR policy and Town Hall meeting. It is always good not to advise the management during a grievance instead seek to give solution to the individual.

What is the role of the HR in rewards and recognition process?

The HR’s role is to coordinate the rewards and recognition process where the workflow starts from preparing nomination forms to organizing the ceremony.

Why should we have events and communication in an organization?

Events and Communication acts as a stress buster where the employees are made to feel like a family and get motivated on work. It also helps keep the employee updated of all the happenings inside the organization.

What is the role of the HR in an Induction process?

The HR’s role in an induction process is to make sure the new employees are well educated about the company and the policies followed.

What is KRA and KPI?

Key Result Area is the end result or the outcome which is expected out of your job.

Key Performance Indicators indicates the step by step process towards your KRA

What is Normalization?

When the performance rating received from the manager’s doesn’t match to what the HR has (set according to the budget allocated), then normalization happens where the rating will be changed accordingly. But you cannot skip steps while normalization.

When do we use a Bell Curve method?

A bell curve is a pictorial representation of the performance ratings which helps in deciding the promotion of the employees.

Who is called as a principal employer?  

The person who pays the salary/wage to the contract employees through the contractor will be called as the principal employer.

Is PF amount taxable?

Yes. It is made taxable from April 2017. If the interest rate for your PF balance is less than 10000 per annum, there is no need to pay the income tax and we need to declare it in form 15G.
